Having recently lost both parents, this one hits so hard and I tear up every time I hear it. All the lyrics to this song are special but that line "One day we'll meet on that shore again" really gets me. Never thought Nightwish would ever do this live. So glad they did. One of those lights is mine... We were there... Best concert I have ever seen. And Floor... You can not describe it by words.

Tuomas originally wrote this to honor his own parents. But it soon became a song to honor anyone's parents, suitable for most of us who had good parents and a good relationship with them. NW's music hits deep into the emotions, not only for us listeners, but also for NW members. When this song was recorded and Floor was supposed to start singing, nothing was heard from the studio. And Floor was nowhere to be seen. When they went in to take a look, Floor was found crying in the corner. The song really touched her own feelings because it reminded her of the difficult times of her own parents (mother's illness).. After some time they tried again, but the same result, Floor couldn't sing. The end result was that several NW members sat in tears in the recording studio. I think that story once again shows how close they are to each other and what kind of mutual love there is between them.

Up until December, Nightwish had never performed this song live before. During the most recent part of their World Tour (in Europe) the band substituted 'How's The Heart?' with this one. It features on the 2015 album 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful' and was written about the respective parents of the band members, and works perfectly in an acoustic setting here. Nearly impossible to listen to Nightwish and not feel something, whether it's "let's march into hell behind Floor" or "memories of those we love." Tuomas is simply the best at writing from the heart, and Floor delivers his composition directly from the heart. It's the perfect combination, along with the incredibly talented musicians who lay the foundation on which that message is delivered. At the very beginning of this journey, I recommended keeping tissues nearby, as you seem to remember. I always have mine, because I always need them. Thanks for sharing once again!! Still here for this ride, I'm not going anywhere. Much love, sweet lady!

You can ramble on as long as you want, Jynger. We're not going anywhere. When I saw the title I knew this was going to hit you, just like it always hits me. It's a special song for all of us who love and/or miss their parents, like you miss your Dad and I miss them both. And a lot of us are also a parent ourselves, so it's also a song for us. I was very lucky to see this song in Prague last week. A beautiful heartfelt reaction, thank you so much for this one.

I'm only now watching your video because of a full week of sunrise-to-sunset work but I'm really happy to start the new year with Nightwish and such a "straight in the feels" song.

I was at their concert in Hamburg, 12th of december...where they world premiered this version of the song. And trust me, more than just one person teared up in the audience

Although this is very beautiful as an acoustic, i wish they did the full version as the symphonic and instrumental parts in this song is so damn awesome

Yeah, this is one that will get you in the feels. This was only the third time ever it was ever performed at a Nightwish show, having just started a couple of days before. However, Floor did this one in her solo shows in Amsterdam in 2021, which you can find on KZread. You should probably take a listen to the studio/full band version as well. They dedicated to each of the band members’ parents. Happy new year! Each one seems to fly by faster than the previous.

I saw them live before christmas. First I was a bit disappointed they took the acoustic Version of "how´s the heart" out and "Our Decades in the Sun" in.... but damn... hearing Floor sing it live is a blast and not comparable in any way watching it on a video filmed on a mobile phone

You need to hear Hows the heart accustic version. You will love it

You should try Meadows of Heaven (with Anette). It's just an amazing and emotional song.

I was there. We reached Gliwice in a crazy snowstorm, the highway was covered with snow, 100 km from Krakow took us over 3 hours. Nevertheless - it was worth it - amazing concert!!! 🥰🤘🥰

They made us wait outdoors for 2.5 h in freezing cold and huge snow fall... I was never so freezed to death before in my whole life. But It was worth it as fuck

A beautiful reaction to such an emotional song. I know the band has said that it was written for their parents but I also think it could be written from the perspective of the band members as well. In fact Floor commented on the video of this song from her solo show that for her it is about the distance between her and her family while touring (kzread.info/dash/bejne/qaiC1stwlszPnag.html). I think they held off performing this live because they all knew they would turn into a blubbering mess while trying to perform it. In addition to Floor's lovely performance of this song in her solo show there is also a lovely version by Samantha Steenwijk on Beste Zangers that she sang for Floor on the show that focused on Floor. She rewrote the lyrics in Dutch and shortened the song to fit the shows format but is equally emotional and beautifully. Gets us every single time we hear this song, just tugs at the heart strings, so poignant and profound.. Appreciate our parents while we can, take nothing for granted. Another nightwish song along similar lines, and if you haven't heard from Annette on vocals as yet, (Floor still favorite) would be enjoyable to experience: "Meadows of Heaven", Tuomas' ode to long lost days of childhood past. Just Beautiful! There is a video that someone put the song to with beautiful photos and on screen lyrics and is a great way to thoroughly endear the theme, and one many feel is much better than Nightwish's official video itself.
