If I was forced to choose, I think Storytime from this concert is still my favorite of favorites of Nightwish...I had a similar first time reaction that you did, Debbie, when Floor did her thing in the middle section..."WTF was THAT???" I've been hooked ever since.

My favorite part of Storytime was hearing Floor do a "vocal riff" at the end, similar to an R&B singer or a Gospel singer. It's also why Annette, as much as people have denigrated her since she left, still has a couple of songs that Floor hasn't done (At least, that I haven't heard), and for which I think Annette will always be remembered for: Meadows of Heaven, and Scaretale. Meadows of Heaven particularly has that "vocal riffing" quality that Floor did in Storytime and Nemo, during Wacken 2013.

I don't think Debbie would make through a live Nightwish concert. By the third number, she'd be gone.

Here lies Debbie. She overdosed on Nightwish, her poor heart just couldn't take the pure joy of symphonic metal and Floor Jansen. Floor being a Goddess, will happily welcome her into the next world where Debbie can listen to Floor without the fear of another heart attack. Please ignore the look of utter joy on her face.... Nothing but respect and love!!

A band at their absolute peak ... every one of them. The energy is infectious, and when they ramp it up for the last section, it is just ridiculous. Jukka on fire, and Floor at the limit of what is humanly possible. Incredible.

When Floor starts hitting the highs at the end, it is like you are in a racecar, pedal to the metal and you are pinned in the seat.

That last time through, when the double bass drum kicks in, sounds like a laser cutting through a diamond...

Favorite Nightwish song is The Greatest Show On Earth...bc the message really makes you put your life into perspective!

Because with the people in this band, they are more than just Nightwish: - Floor: Nightwish, After Forever, ReVamp, Solo; Guest: Ayereon, Sabaton, Beste Zangers (2019) - Tuomas: Nightwish, Auri, Solo (The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck) - Troy: Nightwish, Auri - Marko: Nightwish, Tarot, Solo: EU "Masked Singer" winner - Kai: Nightwish, WinterSun These are just the things I've known about, and even I haven't heard everything, let alone there are some pieces by Nightwish I've never heard Floor sing: Meadows of Heaven and Scaretale. Nightwish also has never performed any of the 8-movement piece "Nature" from Human :||: Nature. (Note: In my humble opinion, Tuomas has 2 magnum opi: The performative magnum opus of The Greatest Show On Earth, and the non-performative magnum opus that is "Nature" from Human :||: Nature.) In case you can't tell, many people in this band have more than just Nightwish under their belt -- and all of them are so highly talented, I can't give a favorite song by Nightwish, let alone a favorite concert, let alone a favorite musician. And the reason why is because at this point, that kind of analysis, if someone is honest, is impossible to properly do, and to do justice to it. And, in a small way, that says how good not just Nightwish is as a band, but how good the players and vocalists of this band have been, and continue to be.

And think except for some rearranging the set list was designed for a totally different singer, Anette. It is fun to listen to the concert in order as you get a sense of how the band wanted to present the tunes mostly a ‘festival’ list to appeal to a mixed band audience. Fun reaction.

I agree, that double-kicking is absolutely delicious!

To me, one of the best recorded live DVD ever - keep in mind that every song in this concert was either originally written for and sung by either Tarja or Anette - the first album with Floor was not recorded yet - I remember, during one of Tuomas's interviews, he was asked about Floor now being in the band and his reply was "if Floor ever left the band, Nightwish would cease to exist" - the "metal Maestro" was happy once again !

It is said many times times before, but it is really true. Whatever song your hear for the first time, it probably will be your favourite one. When I am forced to choose however, it might be 'Bless the Child' from this concert. Another somewhat underrated and less reacted to song. Also how Floor rushes out and grabs the microphone just in time after her 'zip problem' during the costume change and immediately gets in 'Floor mode'.

Jukka is a big part of that last chorus. First the build-up with some off beat cymbals and toms, then those feet get going and the double bass hits you like a freight train.

I do have to say the 2nd part always gives me a "Streets of Fire" vibe. Underrated 80's movie with an awesome soundtrack. It has taken many months of listening to decide that if i could have only one NW song for the rest of my life it would be...."Storytime" "Song of Myself" close 2nd. Honorable mention would be "Sahara".

What a setlist! Imagine being at the concert, having to listen to Ghost River followed by Ever Dream followed by Storytime! Insane. Hopefully Romanticide is not after that!

Another great female singer is Melissa Bonny. She is in Ad Infinitum, The dark side of the moon, and was featured in Kamelot's "New Babylon" best metal song of 2023 so far). If you want to check her out it should be with Feuerschwanz - Warriors of the world unite.

Hey Debbie, I love that concert. I have watched it on KZread at least a dozen times. It is absolutely amazing. They band's performance is epic and Floor is ripping it up with beyond perfect vocals. No other band comes close with the energy and raw talent that is on that stage. And yes, it will rev up your heart rate. I so so much enjoy seeing the smile on your face when you react to good music especially when you react to Nightwish. They are by far the best live band I have ever seen or heard. I get exhausted with this one just by watching Jukka's feet! That guy has to be insanely fit to be able to keep up that level of drumming for the whole set. Same with Floor. To be able to belt out that song with such intensity, then immediately step up to the microphone and talk normally seems super human to me! 😁

I love it- May I suggest somethig new? Rammstetn (Ramm-shtine)- German band who are huge. Madison Square Garrden sold out in 30 minutes. The song is the Openener. "Rammlied". (Two pens necessary, Debbie ;-)
