Programs that the government must pay for by law or entitlement programs including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Other spending is non-entitlement and it’s called discretionary spending. It doesn't work like that. The payments you made went to fund the social security payments others were receiving at that time. Likewise when you retire your social security will come from those in the workforce today. Your money isn't sitting in a special account waiting for you to draw it and even if it was given inflation over the years it probably amount to a great deal.

Agree 👍. Worked for 40 years. Will be 68 next week. My money 💵 that was taken out of my paycheck. Thank goodness I was smart enough to be in the union and have a pension. Get medical and dental benefits. Invested my money. Never got married. One of the best decisions ever made and second best decision no kids. Retired at 58. Isn't that great. No debt. But the Golden years are not all it's cracked up to be. Our senior discounts are fading away. 😢😢😢

Am i the only person thinking that the nbc news is trying to send us a subtle message that something sinister is going on with the british family as it began with a missing wife and then came to a full circle with a story of the secrecy of British society through the voice of another royal family member?
