No not cheap and the labor involved is... not simply at all. A professional installation if you have all the tools will take you about an hour and extra trip to the hardware store. If you pay to someone you probably end up paying few hundred dollars for this but I definitely recommend it

Does it work for door that open out ward
Good product for French doors (or any door really). The included screws suck though; get some 3 or 4'' stainless steel screws instead.

What if I go on vacation and I need a “barricade” or add an extra layer of protection to a room. I have to be able to lock it from the outside. Help!

If you go on a vacation and you need to lock your door with an additional security later I would recommend you to install a deadbolt lock! You can’t use a door barricade on the outside as you can only lock it from the inside.

Don’t use the blue screws that comes with the lock. Go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and buy the Redhead Screws to Install into tile floor Find the right size you need

You also need a hammer drill, a regular drill will not drill through cement very well.

What is the problem that you have?
Are these ADA compliant? We would want to use them in certain public buildings. And as far as fire codes, these seem like they would NOT violate any local fire safety codes or regulations for public or residential buildings. Is that true?

Some State Fire Marshall’s approve devices like Nightlock Lockdown. Most lockdown policy procedures for classrooms include “Barricading the classroom door,” with items such as desks or furniture. Many Fire Code Officials are now applying a variance in the codes to allow temporary Barricade devices for emergency events. The variances include that they are portable/removable, have a tool to release the device and/or be defeated by Law Enforcement or First Responders. So I am a critical thinker and I always critique products and point out failure points. If someone is aware of this mechanism by the door can they not put something under the door and knock the slider part out of the groove.

Don't buy it it's useless
Plus the doors are so flimsy, if you really put pressure on to kick the door open I’m sure the door would break easily. SolidHardwood doors are best.

I always recommend a single door Vs Double door for security issues, but if you already have a double front door so taking action and reinforce it using the Nightlock and other products can definitely increase the overall security of the door.
