Asimov was clearly an atheist.

Great twist with the tidally locked planet, they had never experienced night in their lives

So, with only one sun visible, the other 5 must be in alignment behind Beta. But that means half of the planet is already experiencing night. The only way this civilization makes sense is if they have never been to the other side of their planet.
