The 80's , good times.
Way back when MTV was actually good. Now, I have both MTV channels blocked on my TV, and have for years.

Me too, blocked..lol
No backing tracks just letting musicians play like they do no stiffness just rocking...THIS is Rock without overthinking it!!...this is how it's done. Bands I've been in these days overthink Rock and are sterile...fuck that!!!!
Can't stop listening to these guys 40 years later. Tight for sure.
Jeff was the only Rock Star in that group. Tall, looked and dressed the part. Awesome guitar riff on (You Can Still) Rock In America at 56:01 . I am sorry Jeff you ended up in the hospital. I hope you healed up and you are better than ever.

I am a middle-aged Japanese. I heard music of Night Ranger well in the youth. I like "Rumours In The Air" in particular. Thank you for a good animation. :D
I saw them in '85, 2010, and February of 2015. They may look a little older, but they still rock the same!!!
These guys are nothing but the real deal! And still rock after all these years. I'm a huge fan! Keep bringing it boys!
学生の時、初めて行ったライブ。カッコ良くて(特にジェフ♪)歌もよくて最高でした!

Was fortunate, I guess,-sorry 2 have missed Rhoades-2 c him few wks after joining Ozzy @ my 2nd concert Diary tour @ 10 yrs old n '82, then saw him about 10 mos later w/ NR opening 4 Kiss Creatures tour! Btw, if don't know, Ozzy "Speak Of The Devil" (Sabbath songs live) same band as Diary tour w/ Gillis & a vid of w/ same title of Diary tour. Actually prefer it 2 Sabbath myself-seems faster & more raw, & used it between bands 2 keep up chops-great album 4 practice! Seen Ozzy w/ Gus???, Wylde, & Lee too, & HARD 2 say, but think Gillis my fave?!

Seriously, anyone who can step right into Randy Rhodes shoes on tour and completely crush it.. not an easy task at all as Randy's technique is very different and extremely nuanced. Jeff Watson adds a ton of value to the over all sound and look of the band and isn't a bad player himself. Poor guy probably gets sick of all the focus on Brad :)
I used to watch MTV all the time. Great videos, great bands, great music. Now, I have that channel blocked on my TV. Nothing but CRAP since the late 90s. As soon as rap and hip hop took over, I was gone.
Seeing this video in the mid-'80s made me a NR fan for LIFE. And Gillis is in my top 10 favourite guitarists list.
懐かしすぎて😢 高校生の時に新宿厚生年金会館のLIVE観に行きましたよ! ブラッド・ギルスとジェフ・ワトソンのツインリードギター最高でした👍👍
One my favorites bands EVER \m/
This is the classic goods right here...
Ah to be young again. Lol. Thanks for putting this up. Takes some of my wrinkles away
Touch of madness was insanely well played by all. This show was an instant classic right from the get go, and showed the world that this band could do it all. They're melodies just stick in your head forever.
Amazing!!! 36 years ago and they still rockn' !!! Thanks for sharing!! God bless NR!!!
41:40 YES! THANK YOU GREG! 52:05 You can still ROCK IN AMERICA! Great BAND! Domo Arigato!
Brad Gillis is one underrated guitar player.
This is the most fun I can remember seeing Jeff Watson having. He seemed to get annoyed later on as Brad was getting all the closeups and credits. Pity, it was a GREAT lineup this way. Fitz was from a town about 15 miles south of me in Salisbury MD.

Kind of understandable since Jeff actually was the guitar hero in his hometown (Sac), then he gets stuck playing second fiddle to Brad. Jeff still kicks ass and adds a ton of value to the band.

@@jonasirw1 I totally agree how great of a player and asset to the band he was. I'm a fan, thus why my post was happy for him having fun. Brad was just a better show off, which was a pity and also why Night Ranger was more of a novelty band to the record labels. I met Joel Hoekstra a few months after he joined the band. He said the toughest part of being in Night Ranger was playing Jeff's licks. Not sounding like him, because the true fans wouldn't accept that. He had to learn to play like Jeff Watson. As a guitarist. I really respect Jeff's unique style. Brad was much easier to cooy.
i remember when this first came out. my dad recorded it off of mtv, he still has the vhs
7 Wishes is my favorite album.
Great, I watched this concert at the age of 18 years old in Nakano Sun Plaza hall of Tokyo.
Unbelievable Concert,Music,Band. Truely Phemoninal
32 years ago? I was there somewhere and they blew me a way by starting a show with the song "Passion Play".
great band.
I was In the Air Force and was Stationed near Tokyo from Aug 83 to Sep 86... this was the first concert I while Stationed in Tokyo. Next year went to Scorpions concert and Dio after that... ALL were Great shows !!!
❤I love jack blades
Going to see them again tonight. I'm sure that they won't disappoint - they never do!
27:50 Jack did a good job with the improv when he forgot the lyrics to the 2nd verse of Touch of Madness
So sad it is not the full show.....JACK BLADES IS A GOD
They still rock, but would’ve loved seeing these guys back in the day. Could’ve and didn’t.
My Sr. year this came out ...TY Greg ^5 man !
Night Ranger is da best :) chlapci, keby mate koncert na Slovensku tak predam aj tricko aby som vas videl....thumbs up
That was such a great concert !! Thanks for posting..NR was so great back in the day
I know Jack Blades is a good bass player because prior to NR he was in funk band I didn’t know that then. Back then thought he was faking it because he ran around strumming it like Danny Partridge.
Saw these guys at SE Washington State Fair September 2019. They ROCK!! 3rd time seeing Night Ranger in a year, 4th time coming soon, great show.
Love the way they turned tuning into their opening song :) without anyone noticing
This was the same show they did at Great America with Shooting Star opening, was one of the best short concerts I ever saw!
original lineup NIGHT RANGER✈ all new studio album .cause you can still . ROCK in AMERICA a'hh yeah it's alright. 🎸 rock metal friends Jeff & Fritz re-joined the band night ranger is calling for you cheers friends 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Great show. I am looking forward to seeing this Thursday night in Long Island. Been a fan since Midnight Madness-
Night Ranger rocks 🤘
Thanks for uploading this, Greg Paravati! Night Ranger were a very good live band, as evidenced here.
What a great band this was,,, is
this concert were edited because at least there are two songs that not appear here. Can't Find Me A Thrill and At Night She Sleeps
Gillis is one of the baddest guitar players of all time his style of grabbing his tremolo and pick scales never letting go is hard to do, and he does it efferlesly
Can't wait to see them in Dallas this October!

I was 15 would've give anything (almost) to see them then.....
Saw them at ZOOWORLD 97.9 KZEW DALLAS. good times
Oh what I would do to have been there in person
There's a part in this video where Jack jumps off the platform during the last song and almost falls. Not many people caught it, but I did.

Yes sir, this version was recorded on VHS from an MTV "Saturday Night Concert" back in 1984. There are 4 tracks omitted from the full version of the concert (VHS/DVD). Penny, Call My Name (this one is a sin), and the two you mentioned.

Well done SIr! I just crank up the top 3rd of the EQ and BLAMO! (But, that auto-stabilize thang is messing with meh.) Sometimes... Rock On!
Saw these guys three weeks after this show. They opened for Quiet Riot on the Metal Health tour. Honestly, Night Ranger was the better of the two bands...easily.
I still miss Jeff Watson....👈😁..
Wild Times for me when this Band was HOT!!!.....Hard Rockin' & fast times followed by a doobie!!.....Or two!!......lol......Good stuff......

Drum kit at the side of the stage? Huh? Is this something Night Ranger usually did?
@RumTumJPM

ABSOLUTELY! The drum kit was positioned that way, in the early days, to give the other guys more room to run around. They still do it that way!

they put it closer to the front of the stage because the drummer sang half the songs.

Shortly after this tour, they put a black cloth all across the stage hiding all amps. Doing this put the focus on the band members, as well as Kelly sitting sideways... you saw the band, not music gear.

Great band, they don't make bands like they used to and I have been a musician for 40 years now. Bands had talented musicians as well as originality making them each have their own individual sound. There is some talented musicians today but overall I find that alot of music has become too sterile imho.
Où est passé le hardeus français dans les commentaires me voilà
No When You Close Your EYES?! WTF?!
ГАМНО
Brad Gillis could of stayed with Ozzy? At least one co written album. Then Jake. His interpretation of Randy was close, especially in timing - which to me is first and foremost, secondary to actual notes- timing carries the gist, the melody. And also being a keyboard backed band. Ozzy had an innate ability to pull tunes from all the guitar players he worked with, probably due to experience with Tommy. I wonder what might of happened. It would be interesting, tho ' Night Ranger is/was a good sustained paycheck. Watson would of easily carried Night Ranger as one guitar, keyboard (keyboard can carry a lot), bass, drums and front person.
WTF Whats that???
Sound SUCKS.
Great guitar playing from Gillis and Watson but much of the song writing is lame and the vocals aren't that good.
