To think if it were not for Jennifer Warnes asking for Joe to be on this song it might have been someone else singing next to her is crazy . She almost looks like a proud mother watching her brilliant child, such is the respect she holds for him, this was a great song .

This is flawless. The vocals are tight and sound even better than a recording. No lip synching, auto tune, no backing dancers gyrating and twerking. Just two amazing singers giving it everything they have.

The song was written by Jack Nitzsche, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Will Jennings and was to be solely performed by Jennifer but it was Jennifer that said it should be a duet which scrambled the writers to add lyrics, Stewart the producer thought Joe's voice would be great and Joe himself thought it would be dreadful and even froze in his hotel room refusing to record at the studio because he couldn't remember his words. He eventually recorded but alone and the voice of Jennifer was added during mixing. Everyone agree magic was made with the final recording and the rest is music history..

Jennifer seems to be in such awe of her childhood hero. What a great tune performed 10 years after its initial release.

I've lost track of how many times I've watched this clip. Jennifer's reactions say it all; it's easily the best live version of the track these two did, just pure magic.

This song is beautiful....now that I’m old (almost 74 yrs old), I realize how hard it was for me to keep going so many times. Today is all we really have. This moment. My dad, my daughter, my mom, so many relatives and pets....so many loved ones (both human and non human) suddenly gone like a flame burning out. I’m an only child, single parent....feeling as if I took the path less traveled. No warnings...mostly all heart issues...some other issues....but their physical bodies are gone and now there are so many empty spaces ....empty. I believe love is infinite, and, yet, there’s sorrow ........and also gratitude...... which arises several times a day and night. This is life. We climb a step every day. We keep living....right now. I know ‘love’ keeps me hanging in....otherwise I’d not be here. I love the words...and this song...and Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes are both amazing. No one else could do this song justice except them, in my opinion. Sending light, love and peace to all beings...💖💫🙏🏻

The summer this song came out my parents got divorced after 21 years of marriage. I heard the words "the road is long, there are mountains in our way". I was 14 at the time and I knew that seeing my parents divorce that life does indeed put mountains in your way. So here I am at 54. At 38 I got divorced. I lost both of my brothers. At 47 I found another woman and had my first child. My mother has dementia. My father had a triple bypass and every week I do his laundry, medicine. The girl I was in love with in my teens died of breast cancer. Life did put mountains in my way. My daughter is 7. There are always mountains in the way.

I've been watching a LOT of KZread over the last couple weeks. This one, however, is the one I come back to most. It is the most spectacular duet I've ever heard. Their expressions, their effort, Jenn's reactions to Joe, the whole is simply mesmerizing and beautiful. What a warm feeling you get for these two. Ms Warnes is a national treasure and Joe is with the angels.

When she was growing up she had a poster of Joe Cocker on her bedroom wall. Later, she saw him performing in a movie of Woodstock and she just knew then that she would later sing with Joe Cocker at some point in her life. I guess the two of them were musical soulmates.

At 3:15 is a musical moment rarely seen. Look at Jennifer's reaction to a healthy Joe absolutely shining. God, I love this.
