Night 1 on ICON OF THE SEAS - My Time Dining, Aqua Action & Midnight Balloon Drop
Join us as we embark on the@RoyalCaribbean Icon of the Seas out of the Port of Miami for a 7-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise. This was for Spring Break 2024 and we left on March 23, 2024.
This vlog covers our first night of our cruise. We had My Time Dining and on this evening our MTD reservation time was at 9pm, but we were able to be seated at 8:30pm. Our servers, Sandesh & Richelle were amazing. I had the Grilled Chicken Breast (a Royal Classic) and Ray had the Aromatic Chicken Saag. Both were fantastic.
After dinner, we picked up Rider at Adventure Ocean and went to the Aquadome for the show "Aqua Action". This show was amazing. We were able to find seats near the front, but did get a little wet. We chose this late show, so it would be easier to stay up late for the Midnight Balloon Drop on the Royal Promenade.
After returning to our room at 12:20am, our son's bed was not made. While this was a miscommunication with our room steward (and not her fault), Housekeeping was extremely unhelpful and downright rude. I had to call Guest Services three times in order to have someone come to our room to set up our son's bed. Turns out, we SHOULD have had extra bedding for his bed under our bed, however, we did not. We didn't receive the bedding for him until almost 2am. I will discuss more about this in my recap.
All in all, despite this issue, we had a great first day and night.

We were on Oasis for spring break and the same thing happened to us, couch not made into a bed. I thought it was strange as well. I will have to remember to request this next time. Love your videos ❤

Thanks for sharing!! So I gave an update on the description box, but it should have been made up automatically. It wasn’t our room stewards fault as my husband left the door not disturb magnet on the door. However, housekeeping was NOT helpful and initially gave us bad information. Also, the extra bedding should have been under our bed which it wasn’t. It took 3 calls to guest services for someone to come and help us. It wasn’t done until almost 2am

You shouldn't have to request. If there's three in the room, the third bed obviously has to be made, especially if there's a child on the reservation.

💯 I updated what happened in the description box and I’ll address it in my recap as well. We had a great cruise, but it was one issue that happened that was handled very poorly by RCCL. It wasn’t done until almost 2am
My daughter Lisa is a travel agent. My wife and I will have to take our Grandkids on a Disney or ICON of the Seas Cruise.

I think a lot depends on the ages of the kids and how much they love Disney. But can’t go wrong with either. Oasis class ships are also fantastic. Their Splashaway Bay is also so much better

@@ShannonFord We have six grandchildren. Our youngest is due to be born this July. Our oldest grandchild is a senior in high school. In between are grandchildren ranging in ages of 3,5,12 and 13.

Hey @Shannon Ford, very nice video. I'm sorry that happened with your son's bedding, so weird? Why would you have had to request it? I have to watch the rest of the series to see how this was answered. Also, did you get sick from the cruise? I am sure you probably answered this, but if you can't get reservations to the water show at 30 days out, is there a way to secure when you get on the ship?

So you can show up 15 minutes before and they start seating stand by. We had reservations but missed the time, so we sat like Standby. Also, the last show had plenty of seats available. So the bedding was a combination of issues. But there was no bedding in our room and there should have been.
So when the next part is coming?
