Nigeria's Story: A Nation was Born Nearly 100 Years Ago

The story of Nigeria's pre-colonial and early post-colonial history. It chronicles the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates in 1914, as well as the key figures and empires preceding it such as Usman don Fodio, King Jaja of Opobo, the Kanem-Bornu Empire, Nok art, Amina "The Warrior Queen", Oluadah Equiano, Lord Frederick Lugard, Nigeria's first doctor, lawyer, engineer, female pharmacist, and Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu (father of Emeka Ojukwu).

Proud of what? An artificial colonial creation that was set up by and for the British. Is that what you are proud of? An artificial geographical area that was created to exploit its natural resources while bringing scant reward to the native population. Is that what you are proud of brother. You are an African first. Perhaps you're not interested in the Berlin Conference of 1884 since that will tell you how and why there is such a place called Nigeria or any other former colonial state in Africa. Please go and learn the history of your ancestors who, I promise you would have never heard of Nigeria!

That was a great documentary but you have to carry out an objective research before uploading an educative documentary like this. The first Nigerian doctor was an Effik man Silas G. Dove who obtained a medical degree from France and returned to practise medicine in 1840 in Calabar. This information can be verified from the historical medical records in Paris, France. The person you mentioned in your documentary is the first Nigerian to earn a medical degree from a British university not the first Nigerian to earn a medical degree. The right person is DR SILAS G.DOVE.

It can stand if only they get rid of the corrupted governors and presidents of Nigeria. When the British came, nigeria became great, when they left, Nigeria went down hill.

A lot of people still worry about western influence on the Nigeria growth. People need to know that no single advanced economics countries can benefit from the division of Nigeria to different part, because of Nigerian economy complexity that still give most of economist a lot of headaches. The only person that understand Nigerian economy is the individual who wake up everyday to be part of simple opportunity that exist for the country that only less than 20% above the middle class in global standard. Millionaire in Nigeria is different from millionaire in the USA because of purchasing power. That is the main reason real economist who visit Nigeria always go to Nigeria market to understand basic economy, buying and selling in real term and take picture to explain meaning of poverty instead real market that exist in the term with money exchange. Nobody understand how the real U.S. system work until individual move to their cities. The best thing Nigerians can learn from the world is education to advance to new level instead of thinking about compete with any of the western world. Nigerian economy gain from learning and growth faster than trying to compete somebody who already know more than them. Nigerian need to also remember that learning is different from control. Japan and Germany rise to advanced economy from learning not from control after the World War II.

This clip further buttress the fact that the different Regions are meant to be separate due to the difference in history, culture and believes . its like saying you amalgamate England and France. Even the UK are struggling to maintain the Union Scotland are looking to leave the union. The EU are also in disarray following the BREXIT. I think its time for Nigeria to rethink this North and South issue. i may be wrong but this is just my opinion

No I don't think this is the solution. I think we simply need to decentralize power and make the states autonomous and simply have the federal there as a punishment mechanism for state governments that go off course. Like a check. If we do this we can maintain our individuality but still act internationally as one and take our decisions as one. Our numbers give us an advantage in Africa that I feel will be negative to lose in the long run.
