If you read the Police Scotland statement on the arrest of Ms. Sturgeon it states that she has been arrested as a SUSPECT in the investigation into the SNPs financial affairs. It goes on to say that a report is being readied for the Crown Office and the Procurator Fiscal. It finishes by saying that the case is active under the contempt of court act and advises care if discussing the case on social media.

Ffs Nigel, if shes been arrested she is clearly there as a suspect and not a witness!

Correct, witnesses are not arrested. In Scotland, to arrest you the police need reasonable grounds to suspect you're involved in a crime / you're suspected of committing a crime and need to be questioned / they have enough evidence to charge you with the crime. Let's hope this isn't one big corrupt game and she gets found out and taken to court for any wrong doings.

Witnesses don’t get arrested to make a witness statement. That can come only after the arrested person is eliminated from suspicion of any crime. Suspects can however make a voluntary statement under caution.

The same is true here in the States… lots of us from both parties feel abandoned. Conservative Republicans here are not all ignorant, bigots, and not all liberal Democrats are so progressive that they have lost all common sense. I think that our use of the labels Republican and Democrats here is different from how it’s used there, but I hope you understand what I’m talking about. I’m sure you do…..I’m certainly not implying that you are ignorant of our world. ✌🏻✌🏻
