Nigel Farage: An apology from NatWest boss is 'a start', for Coutts account controversy
Ойын-сауық
Former Brexit Party founder, Nigel Farage, says that an apology from the boss of NatWest Group after his account at Coutts was closed is a "start".
He says its chief executive, Dame Alison Rose, needs to take responsibility, and that he will defend others in similar situations to him.
The Treasury has announced new rules it says will force banks to explain any decision to close an account.
Sky has contacted Coutts for comment.

The most disturbing fact for me, aside from the account closures, is what the hell are the BBC doing getting involved in this in the first place... surely the first roll of a journalist is to collect facts and report them to the wider public, not to have private conversations with CEO's and then report privately to an individual that their bank account is being closed down on a premise that turns out to be a lie?
@rodsloane706

What was the CEO doing blabbing away a customer's privacy to a BBC eunuch? Did she have one or 2 too many before 'giving it up'? No excuses. Apart from being sacked Alison Rose should've, especially as a CEO/bank employee, be aware of her employment obligations of privacy to her clients & now face the full force of the law &/or fine for any breach.

How could Jacks tell Nigel he did not have insufficient funds if the chairwoman had not discussed Nigel's financial affairs ?She, or the person who did should be removed on that alone. Keeping their customers financial affairs confidential is essential to the relationship between bank and customer. Only a court order, or a police investigation , with prima facia evidence to support same being justified, being the exception.
Who is that sky reporter.... Is he trainee reporter or what
The reporter, more interested in how much money Nigel has.
Denying banking to someone bank reps don't like would not have happened a few years ago - considered outrageous and very unkind. There is a new mindset about limiting freedom of speech and other things - think that these limiting views are being taught in schools and universities, reducing the public's sense of justice for people. Yes, banking should be a basic right, it is difficult to survive without a bank account ! !

Where are the details about the data leak with the BBC? Who was involved? Where are the policies of the bank? Not new ones. The old ones. When are they going to axe all the other accounts? Why no apology for saying the balance was too low? Why no restitution of the accounts? Who else has been axed in this way? Where are the communications with the other banks because the other banks showed coordination? Why is that only politicians will be protected and not the peasants? Looking at the board, most of the board are completely unqualified to be bankers. Where is the ICO on a clear data leak? Where is the complete apology from the BBC? When will the BBC fact checkers get sacked? When will Starmer come out and say its wrong? Too many quesitons and no answers from Coutts.

They offered a private account to try and stop him talking about it on air 2 weeks ago. But by then he realised the scale of this. The danger was that if he doesnt carry on, that leaves the enormous number of others effected without a voice. People that finally had some hope a this corruption was finally expoaed. Ps, they offered him a private account, not a business account which is probably by far the more pressing issue. There is also the reasonable concern that theybwould pull the same stunt if things went quiet as a result of Nigel Farage taking their shilling. He would look pretty awful if, now knowing the scale of this, he abandoned the action against corporate corruption the moment they agreed to give him his accounts back even were it both.
