Nigel Farage: An apology from NatWest boss is 'a start', for Coutts account controversy

Ойын-сауық

Former Brexit Party founder, Nigel Farage, says that an apology from the boss of NatWest Group after his account at Coutts was closed is a "start".
He says its chief executive, Dame Alison Rose, needs to take responsibility, and that he will defend others in similar situations to him.
The Treasury has announced new rules it says will force banks to explain any decision to close an account.
Sky has contacted Coutts for comment.

The most disturbing fact for me, aside from the account closures, is what the hell are the BBC doing getting involved in this in the first place... surely the first roll of a journalist is to collect facts and report them to the wider public, not to have private conversations with CEO's and then report privately to an individual that their bank account is being closed down on a premise that turns out to be a lie?

What was the CEO doing blabbing away a customer's privacy to a BBC eunuch? Did she have one or 2 too many before 'giving it up'? No excuses. Apart from being sacked Alison Rose should've, especially as a CEO/bank employee, be aware of her employment obligations of privacy to her clients & now face the full force of the law &/or fine for any breach.

Why no apology for saying the balance was too low? Why no restitution of the accounts? Who else has been axed in this way? Where are the communications with the other banks because the other banks showed coordination? Why is that only politicians will be protected and not the peasants? Looking at the board, most of the board are completely unqualified to be bankers. Where is the ICO on a clear data leak? Where is the complete apology from the BBC? They offered a private account to try and stop him talking about it on air 2 weeks ago. But by then he realised the scale of this. The danger was that if he doesnt carry on, that leaves the enormous number of others effected without a voice. People that finally had some hope a this corruption was finally expoaed. Ps, they offered him a private account, not a business account which is probably by far the more pressing issue. There is also the reasonable concern that theybwould pull the same stunt if things went quiet as a result of Nigel Farage taking their shilling. He would look pretty awful if, now knowing the scale of this, he abandoned the action against corporate corruption the moment they agreed to give him his accounts back even were it both.

The right to a bank account existed in the UK from the 1970s until Vince Cable abolished it when he destroyed the post office during the coalition years. There is no 'right' to a bank account under EU rules. Which is why l Britain was able to remove it as a consequence of Vince Cables changes to the operation of the post office many years prior to our leaving the EU.
