For the first half she has a fixed rotation so it wouldn't surprise me if they made an effort to have it sync, after the adds phase it's all random though. The bells are triggered by certain attacks and not actually a part of the song which helps it sync too.

Yoko Taro for some reason likes that kinda stuff. Drakengard 1 and 3 had secret final bosses that were rhythm fights rather than action fights and if you didn't get the rhythm correct you died. Shit was some of the hardest boss fights I ever experienced and Yoko Taro is a damn sadist for making those bosses.

@@blueknight7100 yeah you're really underselling and under estimating the NieR games. Replicant is outdated compared to automata in terms of game structure for quests. But if both games have the capacity to make you cry despairingly, then just calling it a running around and killing stuff and finding loot with a nice ost is really doing it a disservice. You're making the games sound so basic, when anyone who's played the games will tell you that they are some of the most complex games out there.

@@janterri3539 Not really.. Dubbing ruins so much. Takes away the true emotions of the makers of the game. If its meant to be in Japanese it should be played with the original voices. Just like people dub anime and stuff like that.. So much gets lost in the translation.

Fact: this boss (whose real name is Simone) is inspired in Simone Beauvoir, not only the design, but also its ideology.

The anime is said to be one of Yoko Taro's main inspirations. You can see the inspiration in other games of the franchise, mainly Drakengard 3 and Sinoalice

The whole game reminds me a lot of madoka, mainly cause of all the existentialism shit.

By the way, the HUD looks like this for a reason. On very hard mode, you die in one hit and no lock in, so your attacks may not always hit. People underestimate how hard this game is sometimes. Even on the normal difficulty, it’s still a hard game.

ohmygod, does anyone realize that everytime the circle laser or the bouncing bullet launched there is a bell ringing EXACTLY as when it's fired! and it is making the song and the battle more epic! so the game developer also synchronize the attacks sound effect with the music!! actually i found many version of this song including with the bell. but still, oh my god i really appreciate towards this game and whoever behind it. just from a man who really loves bells ringing sound.

The bells are all tied directly to her attacks, not the music. So past the first phase where she has a fixed rotation the bells will chime differently every time.

The bells could also be a reference to the Watchers from Drakengard when fighting them. Would makes sense considering the red eyes and madness.

I really loved playing Nier automata. Came for the style and Soundtrack and stayed for the story. This fight is really well orchestrated. I would give a finger or two if I could experience automata again like the first time. Not knowing anything

NieR is actually a spin off to Drakengard, actually. Kind of like how Persona is the spin off to Shin Megami Tensei.

This game blew my mind story wise I didn't think it would be this good. Gameplay wise it was awesome

I just came by to watch this song with the full fight after watching Alex Moukala's React vid, and hoooooollly cow, do I have more appreciation for the nuances that went in to the song and fight, and it's absolutely cemented as one of my favorite. At 4:39, after her dress has burned away and she falls over backwards, a hand on her chest, and the song comes over, Chaos language of course, but Alex mentions it sounds Italian for "It hurts here in my heart," and I just cannot. T.T Simone, I am so sorry you went through this.

That is the best boss for me. Considering your game experience for the 3 boss the "fight experience" for the first time is amazing compared with other boss fights. And freaking good playing at very hard, can't take a single hit!

This fight brought me to the game. I thought this would be the most emotional and most impressive fight with the most tragic backstory in the whole game ... little did I know they would put that in squares with each of the routes, applying an infinite amount of loss and despair on the whole setting ... and you understand more and more what really happened.

Wait did she scream "someone help me" at one point?

This game really makes u feel the "its just low level how hard can it be?, wait why is it that it took only 5 bar damaged on my attack?, WHY ITS ATTACK TOOK 26 OF MY HP BAR WTF!" vibe

It's really good, just make sure you keep playing after the credits roll. It's divided into 2 parts and presents the end of each part as an ending which causes a lot of people to just kinda stop half way through.

I bought it recently myself, i see so many cosplays of this character and finally got the game to see what it was all about and not dissapointed at all, definitely worth getting if you get the chance, the whole game has that epic feel and sound, bosses, story, etc 👍

I love this boss battle so much. The aesthetic, Simone's character design, the OST, the boss mechanics, and Simone's innocent tragic story. My favorite boss battle in the game.

I want play it again, what an amazing battle, love how sounds the beautiful theme with those creepy robotic laughs.

1:05 I noticed how the ost has a little bit of that orchestra the O'Fortuna and I love it wow it's amazingly well made

Holy shit I never realized when she hacks you the song plays in it's digitalized version. This game is so fucking gooooooodddd.

i never play nier before, i just found out this video on my recommendation but i can tell that the music sync perfectly with the battle. this is masterpiece

This is my first time hearing the characters with the English dub and it sounds so strange haha. I like 2B’s English voice but 9s sounds so much manlier and stern compared to his soft, emotional Japanese voice. Very interesting! The robots still sound amazing and this boss fight was probably my favorite.

For those who are still watching this, at 2:52 you can see one corpse with his eyes covered just like 9s. 9s is a hacker. Which can give the info of why the boss can hack

Thank you for showing me that Nier is not only a shooting game, because it is at least for me.

Can felt horror sensation of this machine blend with her music.

Here is some wisdom to the human race understanding something can beat any difficulty.

I really love the idea of the machines being left to their own devices on earth and doing their best to replicate humanity and it just resulting in tragedy and madness.

I keep revisiting this for the music. So good! Also, the State of the Arc podcast is covering this game! They're going to be doing a deep dive on this for weeks! Usually around 1 to 2 chapters a week, but it's such a philosophy driven podcast and now they're covering the most philosophy driven game! HYPE!

when the damn crucified corpses rain down. and her attacks syncing with the music. and her tortured screams. "someone help!" the 8 bit hacking music. the whole thing is so dramatic and sad and surreal.

Thus, in becoming more human, the machines also became really stupid.

This is truly a game for the ages and a prime example that they are an Art Form

My fav boss out of any video game ever

This is the only boss I fought in hard mode because I was so tired of losing all my HP in one or two hits. Regardless I enjoyed my time fighting this boss. I’m at the start of route B and it’s still the best boss so far.

The prologue is one of the worst parts since no check points... it took me 7 hours + something minutes to get past but felt so good at the end.

I'm playing it on hard and having trouble with this fight. First time playing it i have shity chips probably my katana is level 2 and I'm use beast lord for heavy attack. Always die at the part where she jumps and shoots out the red rings on the floor one always gets me

I gave up on chips pretty fast with very hard lol, I don't think you can level your weapons past 2 at that point with mats you can get.
