Being Pascal is suffering. No, but, seriously, I think THIS particular part of the story was *the* most depressing thing to happen. Made even worse by the fact that I couldn't bear to kill Pascal and erased his memories instead, only to go back to the village and see him selling the body parts of his companions like it was nothing... T~T

This fucked me up for days. No lie. Then, for whatever reason, I went to visit Pascal after the wipe, and he offered me some children's cores. I turned my PS4 off and put the controller down. He was literally the nicest, most endearing character in the entire game universe, and he got the rawest deal. That is a heaping helping of distant future nope. Gotdammit.

After wipe out Pascal's memories. I immediately revisit the village as soon as I got control on 9S. The scene is just so heartbroken. Corpses everywhere. On the ground is corpses of two robot sisters in a sidequest on route A (when the robot with pink ribbon got lost in desert), they're still hugging each other. And Pascal, idk how he managed to reach the village after A2 wipe his memory. But he's standing there, gathers cores and broken parts of his fellow and try to sell these to 9S. That shit hit me so hard tbh.

Fun fact: I heard that that book at 8:25, the Pensées, is the last book the real-life philosopher Pascal wrote before he died. It was unfinished.

@@FlowerEmblem Even funnier fact: In Pensées (Thoughts), Pascal (The irl one, a mathematician and christian) argues that you should act as if God existed, because even if God doesn't exist, you'll have a limited loss. But if God does exist and you act as such, you'll get unlimited gains, but you'll face unlimited loss if you acted like it didn't exist in that very case. This part of Pensées is called "Pascal's Wager", and it's basically an argument based on fear, that you should be "good" to avoid an eternity in hell. Now see the relation... Pascal in the game used this line of thought while educating the robot children, he teached them fear to protect them, and that very fear ended up pushing them to commit suicide. This game doesn't just name characters for no reason. Those names also has a meaning within the plot and the message it's trying to convey, using the same thoughts of those thinkers and philosophers as both a complement of the plot, and to criticize those ideas

I still find the Nietzche scene the ultimate fuck you irony moment in the entire game and there were a shit ton of them. This game to this day still has me depressed to my core.

Dang now I really wish I knew what the reference was. I know it's there, but I don't know anything about Nietzche to get it.

I think what got to me here was by the time I finished all the sidequests for the machine village as A2, they were calling her 'Big Sis'. I suppose she does give off an 'older sister' air about her. Which made it even worse when it ended up being wiped off the map. Welp, there go my feels.

Pascal had one of the most badass moments in the whole game only to quickly go to the most depressing scene ever.

It's nice that with the time A2 wanted actually to cooperate with Pascal, it was nice they were able to, really. However i didnt expected for this to end good, unfortunally i was right. ;-; tfw this Pascal quest was the most heartbreaking thing for me in this game T.T Also as the game goes i like A2 more and more, prolly will be my favourite character with Pascal there, still poor Pascal ;-; Edit: also when i listen to Pascal, i really think it's famele.

it is just great how Pod was so respectful and helping, sometimes even sounded low key worried for 2B but with A2 its like questioning constantly her mental health or habilities, as if he is resigned to be with her only because 2B asked him, or maybe because 2B its contained on the sword she wields now

It was bad enough going through that entire fight, dreading the possibility that one might slip through. It was bad enough, hearing Pascal say "I'll kill you!" and wondering if he'd be the next to turn. It was bad enough knowing something horrible was going to happen because the perspective remained on Pascal... It was bad enough... lobotomizing him... blowing his memories out one by one... ...But while I'm sitting there, sobbing openly from it all... ...the thing that made me want to retch and brought my hands clamping onto my mouth... was his trading stock. Cestuses made of the heads of his family was dark... selling their butchered parts... ... ... ...seeing the children's cores on display, though... that was hell. That was torture. That fucking hurt in a way no game has ever hurt me. That was the moment I had to leave the village, save... and just fucking close the game.

When you're fighting the tank, I swear I hear Song of the Ancients playing in the back

Damit Pascal. You had that chest beam the entire time! But it would make sense why he/she wouldn't use it due to being pacifist. A2 is definitely the best in character relationship with Pascal other than 2B and 9S. Totally heartbreaking here.

I think the most heart breaking thing is and Mrclemps put it best if you delete Pascal’s memories there’s a chance this could happen all over again. Another village. Another happy life. Another attack. Another misery.

From a pacifist robot to an ultra savage, just because he cares about the children... By the time I watching Pascal using the Goliath machines, I can't help but thinking that the children are actually killing themselves inside... YOKO TARO U IS THE ASS

I'd like to think in the future with the network destroyed, Pascal will find himself again. Who else will mother all those new child machines?

erase his memories, his personality is the same, but will be selling you parts of the children he salvaged. Which include core (indicating some were alive)

The machines deemed this iteration of the war a failure as no machines showed the capacity to evolve. Therefore the machine consciousness made all current machines on the server go crazy to destroy everything and begin a hard reset in order to repeat the machine war again from the beginning.

Just got to this mission and should I kill Pascal or erase his memory..

It's due to the Tower emerging...not only in Pascal's village, but also the ones in Amusement Parks and Forest Kingdom were affected...and they were also cut off from the network
