Nidecker Supermatic DESIGN FLAW? Am I the only one to experienced this? No details online!

Ойын-сауық

Please don't get me wrong, still think awesome bindings getting in & out. Also agree with most online reviews, slightly heavy and hard to explain solid yet dead spot at the base of the foot, but the ease of in and out is great.
Sharing my incident to all owners (who have yet experience this) and people thinking of getting the bindings. Just to take note, to reduce the chances of this happening to users.
When you push down your highbacks. DO NOT PUSH DOWN HIGHBACKS with the side pivots/hinge/mechanism engaged/clicked in.
This is to avoid it's going "through" the entire heel cup and getting stuck if there is any accidental impact on the highback area.
Also be just sharing my idea for "improvement".... maybe so kind of notch to act as a stopper to prevent the hypertension of the U hinge to fall far back enough for the mechanism to drop out.

The only way this could possibly happen is if you stepped on the high back while it was laying down flat and the heel cup was some how pulled back? Not sure how that would happen. Me and my family all have supermatics and this has never happened to any of us.

Another theory I have is the board width doesn't match the bindings size or they're mounted wrongly. That stirrup looks like it's sitting way over the edge of that board, there's nothing to stop it going over. Mounted correctly the stirrup should land flush on the heel side of the board deck preventing the follow through of the pins, just a thought...?

This happened to a friend of mine. I had to seperate the binding in half by unscrewing the roller and hold it open to push it back through

You should also upload the video of what happened to yours. Really like the system... just disappointed with a simple warning or design improvement or even no one bringing this issue up.

happened to me on every run, and its quite annoying. only way to stop it from happening was to loosen the straps and tighten them up once I was in

Just take note how to use it.. just a lot of extra effort not to engage mechanism with the highback folded down.

My heel cups broke completely off on both sides of my left binding. Fortunately it's getting warrantied.

Your guide pins( the shiny sliver metal thing) are on the outside and on the underside of your bindings. They should be in the frame to guide your high back into place.

over 30 days on mine no issues. yours look brand new and this appears to be intentional. take the dam bindings off and use your brain. to put them on correctly.

He seems to be showcasing a possible issue, and in other responses to this video he posts a solution he found to it (albeit an issue he looked for). So I think it’s more for in case you’d need to know rather than to slander the binding, but one could never say for sure.

Just bought a pair and about to use them for the first time this weekend. The only way I can see this happening is, if the heel stirrup doesn't land flush on the snowboard preventing the resulting over movement as per design. It looks as though your bindings are mounted pretty close or even over the edge of the board. This would account for the over movement and subsequent 'push through' of the pins through the locking clips to the other side. Hard to tell exactly from this vid, but does this seem likely? Does the bindings size match the board width. I use XL on a 162W, they sit just right. Hope you get sorted dude.

Thank you. Yes "figured" it out. Basically the key to to avoid engagement and folded high back at the same time. The fix is a lot of holding both hinges all the way back and muscle the pivots in ( hard work but can be done) or another person reached out and said he took everything apart which was hard as well as everything had loctight.

The same thing happened to me twice, you have to unscrew the pegs and pull the binding up then screw them back in. When I messaged nidecker about it they said they can address it with a fresh set of bindings

Wow lucky you. They didn't bother to help me just say figure my own way to get it out to them and I cover all my own postage cost. Just checking with you, so is there any change in design of the new bindings? Does it look like it still possible not drop and fall through? I see it as a design flaw, unless the new bindings you got has some new design that prevents the drop/fall through happening? Thx thx

@@helloderek what I started doing to avoid it is to pull the high back down with one hand on the foot so it doesn’t slide in the locks and since then I’ve had no issues

@@zacharystarr3004 yes that's what I also figured out to do. Basically do not engage the mechanism with with highback folded down right? Ok so that's to say by the sound of it, the new pair they replaced is the same design right?

My guess would be that it would still happen, if the main issue is not addressed. Which is the hypertension or over extension of the U shaped hinges. Still puzzled why no other videos about it and how to rectify it. Too much work to muscle it back so too afraid to intentionally make this happen and put it back again.

Yeah, fold that high back anywhere near the lifts. My high back gets caught on old school lift gate line up thing I forget about sometimes when I don’t fold it down. I was assuming it arrived this way or something with a lot of force did this, I literally hop to lock mine so I know they can handle some abuse.
