Some of the Nicomekl Enhancement Society (salmon hatchery volunteers) went to a neighboring property to plant trees to strengthen the banks of a stream against heavy rains that are becoming more frequent in recent years. The smaller streams flow in to the Nicomekl River, so to enhance the water quality of the Nicomekl, we have to help do some remedial work upstream.
Most of our hatchlings have been released but the volunteers still have work to do throughout the summer months to prepare for the next salmon season which begins around September.
