Thank you very much. You are a born teacher. I am so grateful to be able watch your process. I admire your work and look forward to practicing on my own. I had only worked on Aida and just ordered some evenweave. I feel I have a better chance for success after watching your video. Thanks for taking the time to help us newbies, even if some of us are past 70 yrs old. 😳

Thank you so much Nicole ❤️ I'm one of those people who thinks they can learn any needlework just looking at books! I taught myself how to knit using #2 yellow pencils! The first thing I made was a cable knit sweater for my dog! At least you could tell it was a sweater. Lol I have struggled with my cross stitch in speed and quality of work. This tutorial is extremely helpful and will make a huge difference in my work. Thank you, thank you!

9/2/2023 - Nicole, Your video on stitching over one is extremely helpful and clear enough to see how you work those stitches. Thank you so much! Would you clarify how I can approach stitching on high count linens such as 46 count which I currently have. I don't know if I should work with full crosses or half cross stitches and should I work that high count over one or over 2 I do use single floss when I stitch high count but have never stitched higher than a 40 count linen. I have AVS Soie 1003 & Soie Surfine + Bohin #28 & JJ #10 Bead Embroidery needles. Your input would be greatly appreciated.🌸🏵 I am a self taught cross stitcher & surface embroiderer with no needlework shop to go to classes or supplies.

It was nice to see a closeup of the 25 count mushroom lugana. I've recently gotten back into cross stitching and I love the look of linen, but try as I might, my eyes can't handle the small weave. I purchased 32 count linen and I won't be able to use it because it's just too small for me. I don't have a local needlework shop so I have to purchase fabric online and the photos are hard to tell exactly what it will be like to stitch on (both the size of the weave as well as the color). So, thank you for your informative videos! Your stitching is lovely!

Thank you so much for the demo. Did I understand this right. Horizontally you stitch the X in one direction and vertically you stitch it the opposite? If so I am thrilled. I thought the X's always had to cross in the same direction on a piece and never knew which was the correct way to start. I wish I could stitch half as fast as you do. I could watch you stitch all day. It is comforting... LOL

Thank you! Linen is a woven fabric, so there is a warp and a weft. The vertical thread is the warp. I prefer to start at the vertical thread - it helps me to keep track of where I should I be stitching. If I come up at a horizontal thread, then I know I’m in the wrong hole (when stitching over two). It’s hard to explain! I’m sure there are videos or websites that can explain it better than me! :) Good luck!

Question: Do you wax your fibers? I have noted lately working with Weeks at this time that it is unraveling more than I want. Even on a shorter 14 in strand. I do wax my silks but I do not note the unraveling as much. The Weeks fibers have been actually separating on me. I have not been working much with the other cotton variegated threads right now. I was just wondering your experience. Thank you.

I do use Thread Heaven on some of my silk threads also. I have been stitching a lot with WDW lately and I do notice they fray a little more at the ends, but not really unraveling that I've noticed. You could try wax or thread heaven (or something like it) on your WDW if your having trouble with them, maybe try a new needle also. Good Luck!

I have gotten some at my LNS and some at the Container Store (www.containerstore.com/s/office/paper-file-storage/aqua-vinyl-and-mesh-pouches/12d?productId=11001110). I think you can also find them on Amazon.

Wonderful tutorial, thank you! May i ask what they are called, and where you purchase the floss 'holder' you have the skein of floss stored on? Ive not been able to find them online, probably because I don't know what they are called lol.

I was stitching on 25 count over two (which makes it 12.5). It may have been the over one that was harder to see. Sorry about that!

You are a natural in front of the camera and it’s nice to see all you’ve done.
