    Nicole came across as very grounded, humble, and grateful. Like a fine wine, she gets better with age. This was a very wonderful, impassioned speech. It's disgusting to know that women over forty were considered "washed up" in the industry, and it is beautiful to see this changing! I applaud her appeal to those in positions of decisive power for the money to back these projects. Let's see history change for the better in Hollywood!!

    I feel like SAG used to be very apathetic to her during her peak (the early 2000's). Snubbed in the Moulin Rouge year but didn't fail to nominate Zellweger for the performance with lesser chance to win the Oscar, then the next year actually awarded Zellweger, and did it again in the following... Normally it's never hard for the frontrunning actress of the season to win SAG but it was for Nicole

    Honestly, as a 20 year old woman, I think stories about middle-aged women are more interesting than those in their 20s. It's not like stories about women in their 20s are uninteresting, just less so, because I think in your 20s you just start to really learn about life. If you look back now to the old Hollywood more than 20 years ago, how weird it was that basically for women who turned 30s, their chance for peak was over, and they wouldn't have much job until they reached an old age when they could play old matriarchs. As much as I love Hollywood Classical era, the patriarchal view of women at the time is undeniable, and the female stars were too young (in comparison to the men) and their fully made up faces looked like unrealistic goddesses or angels, in order to keep up with the standard at the time which was vastly dominated by men.

    Lovely! Well deserved! And I loooove it that Nic hasn't lost her Australian accent (like so many other Aussie actors that go to America, and end up speaking with a yankee twang after being there for only a few months!!) Thank you for being true to Australia, Nic - but most of all thank you for being such a class act, and for being such a genuine and humble person.

    Sohail Jafar - True! But she got her accent in Oz. It's just not her to do a Mel Gibson (American BORN, but Australian raised - complete with a natural Oz accent...then go to America and start twangin' away within no time!! It really peeves me off!! Losing your own accent. No other nationality does it, do they??! Scottish, Irish, French, you name it - they all maintain (of course!) their own accents. Not the Aussies) Nicole is simply what people call 'authentic'. She really is 'herself'. That's what I love about her.

    You're only "washed up at 40" if you trade solely on your looks. Meryl Streep sure as hell wasn't washed up at 40, and Morgan Freeman didn't have his big break until he was 50-years-old.

    She said that it was "wonderful today that our careers can go beyond 40 years old." Referring to women as a whole. I pointed out that it's about people who trade on their looks, not all female actresses. I know this is hard for you because it doesn't support your narrative of the whole world discriminating against women as one category, but if you keep trying you'll get it.

  • @EGarrett01

    @EGarrett01

    Male examples are perfectly fine because the gender distinctions are all in your head. Did you know that bodybuilders, for example, are also on the downswing of their career and usually retire in early 40's? Because they can't keep up the physical perfection either. Secondly, don't think I didn't notice you trying to totally ignore obvious examples of women who had talent beyond their looks and who stayed working, like Meryl Streep.

  • @EGarrett01

    Kymberly Ward Reese is the same woman who abused an officer for arresting them for DUI, just because he didn’t know who she was. Humility isn’t her strongest suit. Plus, Kidman was the reason the show got off anyway.
