    Sarah S. I know some people are gonna think I’m pushing political views, but honestly, it’s more of just a social commentary on how we as humans operate nowadays. I find that no matter what or who you believe in, we’re very quick to compartmentalize each other, which therefore, halts necessary civil discussion in order to effectively work to solve the world’s problems. I believe that in any “category” of people, you can find good people, and you can find bad people. It’s not productive for us to be dismissive or write people off completely without genuinely listening to those who may offer different perspectives, anecdotes, and opinions just because they are not in alignment with our own. Unity is the only way we are going to be able to actually come together to tackle the serious issues that affect us all. The divisiveness, at least in my country of America, is pitting people against each other and so the roots of the issues that need to be identified are overlooked because we’re more preoccupied in arbitrary arguments which ultimately lead us nowhere. While I am so thankful for all the opportunities I’ve been blessed with being a citizen here, I’ve never until recently felt like a large majority of people, on both sides of the political spectrum, are being brainwashed into narrow-minded thought processes that stem from fear. We need to actually educate ourselves and look beyond the click-baity headlines that are meant to rile us up emotionally. And most importantly, live by the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Treat others the way you would want to be treated. In theory, it sounds simple, but in reality, not so much. If we are unable to put aside our differences to form logical and fair conclusions, nothing will ever change.

    This song really doesn't go out of time. It fits for the past present and future. With the war in Russia and Ukraine. It really shows that humans are too dumb to learn from the past

  • @fefek1

    @fefek1

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's not the humans. Not by a whole lot. There is a tiny precentage of mentally ill, greedy serial killers and we can do nothing about it. And when one gets to rule a powerful country... Well, Then Germany invades Poland, and Russia invades Ukraine and so on . Because innocent soldiers are forced to follow their commands and most people don't want to risk their lives to stop them. One of the reasons why Putin hasn't been murdered by his own guards.

    It's been four years since this song came out, four years since I heard it, and four years of it being relatable. It's almost sad just how inspiring Nico's songs are, but he does a great job in pointing out all the injustices in the world. I seriously hope that there's one day where nobody has to relate to this, but can just listen to the music and enjoy it for the exceptional craftsmanship.

    It makes me so sad that this is still true today. You'd think that 2 years later some progress would be made, but even in the midst of a pandemic people don't listen to each other. Now is the time to come together (metaphorically) and work to overcome this, but instead so many people aren't following the warnings and making the lives of others so much worse. I just wish that this message would inspire more action, and get people working more towards a common goal, with our differences put aside.

    Lyrics I woke up in a modern world And there's nothing I can do While I read the latest, from the breaking Story on the news People swear they say it's fake And look up to our leader As he speaks from a mind so bleak He preys on his believers Everyone's bitter, pointing their fingers Seeing the worst in each other But people are not, their skin, or their God Or who they claim their lover I think that people are made so unequal Some are born good and some evil And so here I pray, for one single day That we can live here peaceful The world is falling down And nothing ever changes 1, 2, 3 as the shots ring out But nothing ever changes The world is falling down And nothing ever changes We're all part of a silent crowd Cuz nothing ever changes 12 more killed at a local bar Some were only 21 But the NRA has bills to pay and feeds us with more guns So we send our thoughts and prayers To those who lost their lives But the cycle stays and in a couple of days Bullets fly and a few more die I'm not a scholar, I'm not an expert but if you fight fire with fire I'm pretty sure, it only gets worse The flames burn even brighter I know that I'm not alone When I say I'm sick of the violence Voice our anger on our phones But in real life we're quiet (shh...) The world is falling down And nothing ever changes 1, 2, 3 as the shots ring out But nothing ever changes The world is falling down And nothing ever changes We're all part of a silent crowd Cuz nothing ever changes I hope that when, I fast forward Twenty something years We no longer live our days in hatred or in fear And live to be, kind and free To do unto each other As you'd have 'em do, unto you United undercover The world is falling down And nothing ever changes 1, 2, 3 as the shots ring out But nothing ever changes The world is falling down And nothing ever changes We're all part of a silent crowd Cuz nothing ever changes The world is falling down Nothing ever changes The world is falling down now Nothing ever changes The world is falling down Nothing ever changes The world is falling down now Cuz nothing ever changes

    Well- it's always been like that but nowadays it's like right in-your-face you're more aware now than back then the only reason why is because the government knows how to distract us from all the horrible things going on in the world so that we turn a blind-eye to it. Even if there were people who were noticing it would only be a few people so that's why they're part of the silent crowd.. because even if they spoke up about it their voice would not be heard or just ignored because nothing ever changes. People nowadays are no longer at blind-eye to it but back then before this whole mess they were I bet you that what happened to George Floyd has already happened all before but people were too distracted to notice anything.

    This song hit close to home for me. This song reminded me about America’s issue at gun violence and everyone is pointing fingers at violent video games. As an American all I want is for people to not blame violent video games and for our issue of gun violence to stop. Your line ‘When I say I’m sick of the violence’ is how I feel about mass shootings in, not just my home country, but around the world. This problem will only continue unless we stop hating and start living in peace. This may take some time but it is possible. If only more singers tackled issues like these instead of singing about sex and drugs.

    Yeah I know a lot of people relate this to the police brutality, as jts more recent,, but this really reminded me a lot more the gun violence I saw it happen right up close, so many people have been killed and instead of fixing the problems, or even trying to prevent it we just blamed random things. Right after a bunch of children (and I mean this in a broader spectrum than 18 years) have been killed and still are being killed, I heard so many people say that the solution would be to give more and more people guns. I literally heard someone say to me, right after a shooting happened a few miles away at a school, that they should have given the students and teachers guns to protect themselves. Not that the person who killed kids should have not ever had a gun in the first place, but that everyone should have a machine meant to KILL. It's appalling.

    @@wednesday11 Strap in cause this is gonna be a Long rant. Also, my info might already be outdated, I'm only vaguely aware of major events that happen so it's best to do your own research and like fact check me cause I could totally be wrong in some places. But essentially... We are all beyond fucked. To sum it up, the US has had more mass shootings in the last year than most countries have had in centuries, all while they're trying to bring more children into the world through abortion bans. While the UK is trying to strip us of couple human rights, give no fucks about the fact 50+% of the population will freeze this winter and are actively trying to silence the outrage. Oh, and cost of living crisis is bad everywhere. There's some vague stuff about other countries like France is having an islamaphobia issue maybe? I'm a bit iffy on the details so don't take my word on that. And all of Europe is pretty much suffering from the energy crisis. Now for a more in depth explanation... America is having a small issue of caring more about children who are yet to be born than the kids dying in schools because they refuse to give up guns. I'm sure you've heard about the whole Roe v Wade situation but the implications of it are huge and the overturning of it is terrifying because who knows what they'll overturn next. This could be the start of a lot of rights being systematically taken away in America, meaning terrible things for minorities. Hopefully public outrage will stop that since they can still protest and stuff (though as the song says... nothing ever changes). But with Roe v Wade being overturned, this now means that corpses have more bodily autonomy than pregnant women cause at least you can refuse to donate organs as a corpse. A frankly terrifying thought but I digress. Anyway, while people care are protecting the rights of fetuses and guns, there's been around like 500 maybe mass shootings in the last year in the US which is like a shocking number honestly. Meanwhile, over in Britain, we're dealing with Tories who want to do Nothing to help us when energy bills are rising to astronomical prices and are striving to make the rich richer and the poor deader cause this winter we're all gonna freeze to death while this country boasts having the most billionaires in idk the world or like many years, not sure but the 1% are really living. Former PM Boris Johnson was essentially a british Trump and has always been a joke, more of the Tory party are sex offenders in some capacity, they all are trying their best to milk this country for all the money it's worth as they watch the poor die. The newest leader, Liz Truss, in the face of a coming crisis is very concerned about cheese being imported. She also doesn't believe in 'handouts' and simply wants poor people to 'work harder', think Emperor's New Groove when the villain rules and she says something like 'It is No concern of mine whether your family starves, you should have considered that before you decided to become Poor'. Still somehow the better option than Rishi Sunak though... Ugh, I'm getting too political. Anyway, all this isn't even mentioning that they're stopping us from protesting these changes, and doing their damnedest to rewrite the human rights that we have so they can freely manipulate them. E.g. one of the new things on the Bill of Rights was essentially that the courts are allowed to ignore 'minor human rights violations' which like wtf?! All human right violations are pretty damn important! And there's nothing specific so we don't know if they'll take liberties. On top of all that, they're taking a page out of US's books and not including the right to abortions or like bodily autonomy in the new bill of rights that's being proposed. Protests and marches and such need permits and people will be arrested if they're 'too loud' as one man was when he was protesting the Tory party. Come October, it looks like a majority of people are going to strike. Liz has decided to make it harder to do by limiting unions and needing 50+% of members to vote to strike in order to hold any. Ironic since she didn't get 50% of votes to become PM. They're already preparing votes of no confidence or something though so...idk what's gonna happen. I think that's it? There's just a bunch of civil unrest in a lot of countries rn, ranging from Europe to even Canada I think? No one seems too happy what with inflation rates, being on the verge of economic collapse and the general crisis regarding living prices. Too expensive to live, too expensive to die, we're really stuck. But yeah, everyone's unhappy, no one's doing anything significant about it except screaming online as I'm doing now and I swear we're gonna be facing a French Revolution type situation at some point soon...which I wouldn't particularly mind tbh. Off with the heads of the rich, I say! But yeah, that's it, hope it was helpful, sorry it's so long. Please do fact check me, it's like 7am and I haven't slept so idk if anything I said was even in english much less if it made sense and was accurate. There's probs so much more going on which I didn't remember to mention. Thanks for taking the time to read that rambly mess if you're see this.

    @@deaththegirl3371 that’s really crazy and honestly terrible. I honestly am ashamed that there are people like that who are in control of all of this. This world is really going through the worst right now. The fact that all of this exists is really just sad. And we can’t really do anything to stop this all. But thanks for the explanation. Not gonna lie, the world disgusts me sometimes.

    This portrays modern society so well. " So we send our thoughts and prayers to those who lost their lives but the cycle stays and in a couple of days bullets fly and a few more die". We mourn losses " but the NRA has bills to pay so they feed us with more guns". It's sickening. Thank you for the song. You spoke for those of us who can't.

    @@jordanwayble7872 I don't think it's meant to be taken as the NRA selling guns. I think that he's talking about the dues/fees that you have to pay to be a part of the NRA when he says "the NRA has bills to pay and feeds us with more guns." I think the "feeds us with more guns." is more aimed at the message that the NRA is pro-gun, therefore telling the American people that guns are okay and feeding us with the idea that guns are okay which subsequently leads to more gun purchases and a few more people joining the NRA and paying the fees.

Amazing how so little has changed that I can still think of so many tragedies in this last year alone that this song could reference. Gun violence is a serious issue and I have yet to see visible positive changes towards eliminating this in our society, especially the US.

    I am so beyond sorry to hear this, but disturbingly and unfortunately, I’m not surprised. This specific video over the past five years in particular has been used as a comment section by children during active mass shootings to make note and communicate it before the police or media ever get wind of it. The first time I ever received one I thought it was just a malicious troll, but after their comment was proven to be 100% accurate by the breaking news an hour or two later, I realized the grim reality that so many innocent students face in America today. I wish I could honestly say it’s only happened once or twice, but that would be a lie. School is “supposed” to be a relatively safe place that fosters the nucleus of primary education, and certainly not a place where the entire populace of students, MINORS may I add, should all have a collective fear and anxiety over the potential of being randomly shot up and murdered during their 3rd period science class. I was lucky in the sense that this behavior was not prevalent by the time I graduated high school. It started the year after. While school in general will always present challenges socially or academically depending on the person, to feasibly wrap my head around the normalization of constant school shootings is just as much foreign to me as it is infuriatingly sad. When I was still in school, the campuses were pretty open - to see those same campuses years later gated up like a literal prison is bleak, but understandable. I hope that in time, our future generations don’t have to live through the collective hell we all have been experiencing. How are students, irrespective of their academic or social capabilities, supposed to feel safe in that environment nowadays? You’re completely valid in your feelings and I hope that one day, someday, something meaningful will ACTUALLY change. This topic is one of the primary reasons I have no interest in having children of my own - not at least until something drastic and substantial is done to rectify one of the most evil concepts to ever exist in modern history.
