It’s frustrating how competitor can avoid being scored on by fleeing mat as he’s taken down. In FS wrestling the attacker would still score.

If your back sprawling and the attack pushes you out it’s not considered fleeing … rolling out of bounds running or backing up super intentionally are considered fleeing .. it’s kinda of subjective but rules allow the defender so leeway if your not intentionally abusing it

You get -1 point for pulling guard at any point in the match, it gets subtracted from your point total at the end of the match. So Nicky scored 5 points in the match (2 for takedown, 3 for guard pass) but got -1 twice for guard pulling. Final score was therefore 3-0.

Fun fact: you're not alone in being uncertain about the unclear ADCC rules. Gordon lost a match to Leandro Lo for not understanding the rules and thinking he was behind on the scores despite actually being ahead.

*not an expert - I think a competitor gets negative points because in the Match he is the one initiating a bad move which is not allowed. You don’t reward the other player because he didn’t do anything to deserve those points. Therefore the scoreboard just shows that one guy did some things wrong while the other isn’t really doing anything 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

In particular: guard pulling. Guard pulling is supposedly annoying to spectators and not "sTrEeT eFfEcTiVe", so it takes a hit in many competitions (ADCC for example).

When was the last time Nicky caught someone in a leg lock????

Not even close. Who's ever the better wrestler usually wins. These guys are so good to actually get a finish is hard, so scoring points helps. Every grappler needs to wrestle. Nicky rod great example of a pure wrestler making it to adcc. Well he's not anymore.

Flo, please stop putting the results in the title. It removes the suspense for those of us watching who don't know the outcome yet.

There’s way less danger in a jiu jitsu match with an injury than in an mma match where an injury can likely lead to being knocked out which is never a good thing

I don't mind the steroid use in this sport. It's when combat JJ, and then mma, and boxing where it gets tricky. Long term brain damage and tbi's due to chemical enhancement is where I draw the line. Wrestling and JJ I find it morally ok. Carry on.
