Nicky Grist Returns to Co-Driving after 20 years?! | BRC Pre-Event Test at Sweet Lamb Rally | VLOG
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Join Nicky as he attends the pre-event test for the Melvyn Evans Motorsport Castrol Rally Team at Sweet Lamb Rally Complex in Mid Wales ahead of the second round of the British Rally Championship this weekend - the Rallynuts Severn Valley Stages.
Chris Ingram's co-driver Alex was unable to attend this event, so Nicky stepped in to co-driver for Chris in the VW Polo Rally 2 car, providing some valuable advice, and it's safe to say he really enjoyed getting back on the pacenotes on gravel after around 20 years out! The last time he remembers being on gravel in a powerful car was with Colin McRae in the Ford Focus WRC in the early 2000s.
Meirion Evans was also at the pre-event test, trying out the UK's first Toyota Yaris Rally2 car on gravel for one of the first ever times. Nicky chatted to Lewis, Toyota Gazoo Racing's Project Engineer for the Yaris Rally 2 car.
Who else wants a GR Yaris after watching this?!

One of the voices of my childhood, I spent hours and hours playing various colin McRae rally games and watching WRC on tv and I was always amazed that Nicky was saying the notes in such calm and precise manner. Also, it helped me to learn English😊 All the best from Poland, keep it going!
Nicky is Such a legend!. Very nice hearing his voice doing pacenotes again
Imagine starting a stage and Nicky's voice comes over the intercom!!😎
Spent so many hours of my childhood playing the Colin McRea Rally games, was so nice to hear you delivering the pace notes again, great video once again, thank you!
I won't deny it, Nicky was my first english teacher. Listening to his voice hours and hours playing CMR3 in my childhood helped me a lot with the basics and pronunciation. Great to see all this content that's coming to the channel. Keep it up ! Greetings from Venezuela

Great seeing you back reading pace notes
Absolute gem of a video again Nicky, thanks so much for doing this! Loved the part where we see your written pacenotes, and then moments later you're driving that part and calling those same notes!

That was so nice to hear your voice again reading pace notes,Nicky! Last time I heard your pace notes was years ago playing CMR on my Playstation. lol
Great to see you back in the seat. Great memories for you I hope and everyone watching! Love to see more about the car like the roll cage setout, hydraulic handbrake setup, anti-lag and what is if anything is left from the standard road care mechanically. Also the price tag for a privateer to buy one. Keep the videos coming!!!

Would love to know how much you 'modified' the notes to suit your own style Nicky? Always good to hear your voice reading them out and clearly getting a kick out of being in the most important seat in the car!
Great watch just seems like yesterday you and Colin were there both in the Focus WRC01 and 02 and his MK2 great to hear you doing what you were born to do. Be interesting to see the difference in Toyota’s entourage from a present day coordinators point of view compared to when you did it. 🤝🤝👍👍
Rallynuts was awesome last week, had to come all the way from Londonn. Very glad I went to Sweet Lamb but it was very wet and foggy towards the end of the Saturday!
