Nicks Handmade Boots - A Customer Service experience
I had to send my Builder Pro ThurmanNW boots back to Nicks to address an issue with a nail in the heel. This is a summary of my experience.

I see what you did there. HA
That is awesome customer service, I just ordered the deluxe boot care kit and EDC carry case, I got it in yesterday and just got the EDC bag, not sure where the other accessories are but I emailed them about it and hopefully they respond soon
Excellent. Glad Nicks was responsive and it all worked out nicely for you. It sounded like the boot was only in their shop a couple of days. That's really quick.
That is a good customer service!
Good they could fix this for you. I’m considering a pair of Overlander now, but the quick ship section you can choose Everett boot they have now, but with just two leather options😮

Ya I was excited to see that they added the Prospector to the quick ship options, but only with 1964 brown and max support black. The 1964 brown RO is sort of appealing, but I wish they had offered 1964 tan to the quick ship.
Great video. I’m still adjusting to the 55 arch support and found out I had ordered a slightly too narrow a size. They’re breaking in but it’s a process especially when working for hours.

Are you referring to a normal 55 boot or the new Thurman55?

Cheers buddy! 🍻
That’s awesome, what size are these ? I’m looking at getting the Thurman last. Does it feel spacious in the toe box?

Yes the toe box is worlds better than the HNW. You should definitely get the ThurmanNW or if you can appreciate arch, the Thurman55.

@@EDHBlvd thank you for your reply. They don’t make it super clear on their website. is that the only difference between between the Thurman55 and ThurmanNW, the arch ?
@EDHBlvd
6 ай бұрын
@@remzi6061 it’s the same difference between the HNW and 55 Lasts. The ThurmanNW and HNW have less arch and are flatter. I really didn’t like the fit of the HNW as the toe box was super cramped. The ThurmanNW fixed that. The Thurman55 should be the same as the 55 with good arch support and shape, but with even more toe box room. The 55 already fits better than the HNW, but having some extra toe room is always nice for splay.
Is this the domani brown? Asking for a friend

They will pound the clinch nail down with a piece of rebar. I've done it myself before. It happens when they put 200 clinch nails in the boot.

This wasn’t a clinch nail. This is a soft spot nail. It’s the nail that holds the footbed to the last. It’s suppose to be removed.

@@EDHBlvd I had the same issue a week ago on both boots of one pair. I saw someone on reddit posted about having the same problem. Shuyler responded to them that it was a soft spot nail. So I sent Shuyler a DM with a picture of my boots (which looked the same as yours) but he said that's not what my problem was and that he would have to look into it. I've had to hammer down nails in the past so I'm familiar and tried that first. This time it wasn't the same. I could tell the nail wasn't clinched because it just popped right back up after I hammered it. The nail actually punctured the sock liner. I didn't notice at first because I was using an insole. I'm impatient and wanted to avoid sending them back so I kept going and ultimately was able to get the nails pulled out far enough with needle nose pliers that they snapped off and are fine now. I took delivery of 3 pairs in the past two weeks and it was only an issue on the one pair, maybe it's a training issue with one employee. I'm sure they'll sort it out but it's nice that yours were taken care of so fast.

@@danisnotstan1 Yes I shared that exact Reddit post in my video. Maybe you did not watch the whole video? What is interesting is it seems the did just hammer down this soft spot nail without removing the sock liner. I expected the nail to puncture the sock liner as you mention. I can still feel the nail in the divot caused by the hammering down, but only with my finger. When I have the boot on my foot, I do not feel anything on my heel anymore. So I guess it is possible to hammer it down enough to remove it from feel, even though the nail is still there. I cannot prove if mine is a soft spot nail, but the location is exactly the same as the other Reddit post and directly under my heel. Thankfully the 1 week turnaround with Nicks was super quick. And I received an extra pair of kilties and laces out of it. So I’m very satisfied. I’m going to wear the Thurman’s today. Let’s see if after a full day of wear if I can feel anything (I only wore them for about 1 hour after getting them back Friday).

@@EDHBlvd I saw the whole video but it’s possible that my kid distracted me during that part lol. My nails looked like they were in the same location but definitely couldn’t be hammered. After I hammered them they seemed flush at first but when I pushed up on the heel they popped back up. Luckily I was able to cut off enough of the nail that it’s no longer an issue.
Sounds like superior customer service and good to know
