As Told By Ginger was great! I completely agree! Like I love Doug, but it looks like shit. A lot of 80-90's animation did. If anything, I try to never consider art style when talking about American Animation of this era. If art style is in question, might as well just turn to anime. This show was great and hit so many emotions at so many points during it's run.

Avatar is on another league of its own. First cartoon that did everything differently and successfully achieved what it set out to do. Its animation was widely different from its contemporaries, using a more anime-esque art-style. It was set in China when every other cartoon was set in the US. It was very progressive with its story and characters. Season 1 alone was packed with so many strong and fun female characters. Modern shows should take some notes from the Avatar that came out in the early 2000s. I could go on but you get the gist

When I was like seven years old, I was out walking my dog with my dad, and we met another guy walking his. He and my dad got to chatting, and the guy mentions he's an animator. See him a few more times in the neighborhood, eventually he invites us over to his studio to check it out, it's like a block away. Okay. Get in there, the place is a chaos of puppets and clay figurines, turns out he does stop motion. As we're walking through, I spot something that looks REAL familiar : an orca hand puppet. Just as I'm starting to place it in my mind, we round a corner to where he does his photo capture, and, sure enough, right there in front of the cameras: a tall purple alien and a caveman. The guy made freakin Prometheus and Bob. Great dude, anyway. Helped me make a Halloween costume and turn my living room into a haunted house, animatronics and all. I've still got a vhs tape with some unreleased episodes kicking around somewhere. He was thrilled to meet a fan, so he literally just gave them to me. Unbelievable, nicest guy ever. Eventually, we moved and lost touch, though. So cool to meet someone whose work you like, only to find out they're a genuinely good human. His name's Cote Zellers, if anyone's interested in checking out his other stuff.

Legitimately one of my favorite shows of all time (including live action series). The only hurdle is the first 4 episodes of Season 1. You can tell the series was pitched more towards kids initially. But as soon as the wheels started turning it transitions into its more mature themes. Hey Arnold got robbed tbh. It still stands relevant even if you watch it as an adult and hits you with hidden depths, which is the most important thing a cartoon can do. Being common entertainment for both kids and their parents.

Honestly I'm surprised there aren't more Rocko memes going around the internet. The episode with the banana in the refrigerator (and then several years into the future, the refrigerizor) is amazing. The medics, the Bigheads, everything is so good. I need to watch it now.

This video reminds me of the time you RTd a Cartoon Network tier list by pointing out that "Why this cartoon is ranked too high? Why this other cartoon is ranked too low?" and now, I'm thinking that we're closer and closer of a Cartoon Network/Adult Swim tier list video and if my expectations are proven to be correct, well, I'm genuinely looking forward to it!

A few episodes of CatDog come to mind: Dentist episode for that scene where cat inverts his body and comes out of dog's mouth to brush his teeth. That blackmail episode where they find out one of the dog bullies is doing ballet, but it backfires because he's been doing it to learn wrestling moves. The movie where they meet their parents.
