Yep…. We should have a contest: how many dusty rose sweaters does Nick own?
I work in film and television in Newfoundland, and for my first real job in 2016, Le Creuset was coming to Newfoundland to a big campaign for their new colour, Oyster. It was a crazy over whelming week with a really tiny crew, me being the only local, but on the last day we were packing up all of the hundreds of Le Creuset pieces that they had brought in every colour for the shoot and the head of Le Creuset Canada asked me what my favourite of their colours was, I told him, (can't remember the name but it's a gorgeous teal colour) and he looked around, picked up the biggest sized dutch oven and handed to me and thanked me for my hard work. I knew exactly how much it cost so it took everything in me not to cry right in front of him. It's truly one of my most treasured home items that I will keep forever!

My 40 year old son has been diagnosed with a 'fatty liver' something that alcoholics get, even though he is a tee totaller, BUT he drinks pop and eats choc and cookies !!!!!! so at 40 years old he is now on a sugar free diet

Oof, I feel called out for the cookies, because I made monster cookies for everyone last year and am doing the same this year, lol. Nobody else sends cookies, so I figured that would set me apart, and monster cookies are not your average cookie. In place of beef jerky though, I'm also sending my brothers, who don't celebrate Christmas (but didn't turn down last year's food and likely won't this year, either) some summer sausage gift boxes. I'll write that they're just "care packages" instead of presents, lol.

@@kbailey3238 Yeah, all of the family said that they loved them, and a family friend said they would've been disappointed had I not made them again this year. I might cut back making them for my dad's parents as I don't think the sweets are up their lane and the person they would've given them to has a nut allergy (maybe I can try making another cookie that doesn't have peanut butter), but overall, the monster cookies were again a success :)
Ok. So this sweater IS actually mauve. You should wear it more often, it’s a flattering color for you.👚💕
Add loose leaf tea tins for tea drinkers. Ethnic brick and mortars have reasonably priced teas. I recently bought a tea tin for a picky friend from a Russian market. I stuck with plain black to avoid allergy issues but they have an incredible selection of herbal teas too.
I just inherited my grand-mothers Le Creuset Dutch Oven (she moved to an elderly home), that she once received as a wedding anniversary gift in the 80s... She used it so much over the years and it is as good as new! Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime purchase (per size/shape, obviously 😅🙂).

A truly unique gift list, you can tell right away that it was put together with heart. Thank you, Nick!
Love the Yeti insulator. If you have a coffee drinker friend, the Yeti mugs are amazing - they keep coffee warm for literal hours.
Re the coasters. I have travertine coasters that I got from a second hand store (left-over backsplash tiles) that I just glued felt to the back of. They make me smile whenever I use them.
A word of warning about giving soap-I’ve had several support personnel (secretaries etc. Tell me they hated getting soap.

Yes. Scent is incredibly personal. Even if someone isn't sensitive, they will have their own personal preferences so unless you know they love a certain scent look elsewhere.

Brother-in-law done! (Yeti coozie) Thanks, he was the last person on my list, which means I'm officially done Christmas shopping!!!
I bought myself a Le Creuset dutch oven last year and you're right, it's the best ever!
I think things with scents can also be difficult for "picky" people. They may have only particular scents they approve of, or no scents they approve of, so candles, lotions or soaps that are scented, they can all be a fail because the scent is off putting for that person.

As someone who really doesn't enjoy scented products, I'm not a fan of them for gift-giving. If you know the person loves scented products then sure, but for a gift that'll suit everyone, they're not great. Like that vetiver one that Nick mentioned - I recently learned what vetiver was when I smelled a shaving cream and went "eww!" It's a polarising scent! To be honest, my go-to-gift for everyone (if I don't know exactly what they want) is local boutique chocolate, as long as I know their dietary requirements (although dark chocolate is gluten free, nut free and vegan so it suits most people). Also I love giving tea towels as a gift and getting them when I travel, which I'm sure not everyone enjoys but it's a useful gift that brightens up the kitchen and doesn't take up a lot of space (and you can wrap other gifts in them if you're giving a bigger gift!)

My mom can't tolerate most fragrances, so when she is gifted a heavily fragranced hand soap, she usually gives it to me. Personally I'd rather use something that smells pretty, but there are definitely people who are sensitive to that kind of thing.
Last month I found an orange Le Crueset dutch oven in the shape of a pumpkin at the thrift store--12.99! You bet I snagged that thing immediately!
Nick's Gift Guide?!?! I could not click fast enough!
I love my Chemex coffee maker. I bought mine when I lived in Mexico, but it was one of the items that I brought with me when I moved back to the US. I've even used it to make sun iced tea in addition to making coffee.
I hate getting *ANY* home decor items and tend to avoid it for anyone else. I never like gifted decor items and have to deal with that awkwardness of knowing this person is never going to see this item in my house. 😂 I’m talking do not give me even a COASTER
Walking by Saje in the mall gives me a headache! I can’t imagine going in. “Don’t like dusty rose…” uh ummm….. LOL. Lovely colour on you!
Excellent list! My family and I don’t do holiday gifts anymore (goodbye, pressure and stress!) but gift things any time we feel like it through the year. Love that these are all beautiful and practical.
I love nice soap to wash my hands. I still maintain my budget by either thrifting it or buying it at estate and garage sales.

Yay! Thank you!
Nick, this list is spot on. Very helpful. I'm heading to Fable asap.
I love my Le Cruset and Staub Dutch ovens. I love my theragun. I will buy the green glass vase for the floral arranging ridges and the candle lighter.
I need to save this video to access the information throughout the year. Thank you for your practical ideas and specifics on purchasing them.
I could do almost everything in my kitchen with my Le Crueset dutch oven. Also, I've seen some taste tests comparing the results of things cooked in the instant pot and a dutch oven: The dutch oven won every time. Yes, it's slower. But if you like to cook, it's a crucial tool that will give you outstanding results for a lifetime.
You have to admit, you look really good in this color!
I got a theragun type a few years back. My father who lived his last 5 years with us. He had emphysema and sorry to be gross here but he'd have a tough time bringing up phlegm due to being so weak. It was distressing to watch him try to catch his breath. I bought one of these massage guns and ran it up and down his back, sides and upper chest using the ball attachment. Because he was so skinny, I bought something soft to cushion the ball..... Don't laugh but a cheap dog toy shaped like a slipper fit perfectly (gotta do whatcha gotta do).
Considering your previous video… funny seeing you are wearing blush again! 😂
I'm with you on the Le Creuset. I have the orange pumpkin shaped one. Beautiful and functional.
🤣🤣🤣the foam thing… loved your suggestions Nick ❤
Love your sense of humor😛🥰
Thanks, Nick, the Fable spoons are the perfect Christmas/ significant birthday gift for a friend who "doesn't want anything" but is always hosting welcoming gatherings. I was stumped!
I love that you'e wearing what looks like a fine warm woolen shirt, and more specially that it's in "dusty rose pink"☺. By the way, I agree with almost everything in your "2023 trends I Am Not Excited About" video. Except for the Dusty Rose pink💗. I think it's really a mostly flattering kind of colour.✨
You had me at Saje hand sanitizer...great list!!
I've had that candle lighter and a wick trimmer on my amazon wish list for a year and a half - I don't know why I haven't just bought it! Now that's down to $10, it's in the cart!

Love that coffee maker. The large amaryllis bulb that I have would grow so nicely in that with some pretty stones. My French press that was way too hard to clean out so as not to get any grounds into the sink drain also looks really pretty with plants in it. Love glass things repurposed for plants in the windows. No worry about leakage to ruin the gorgeous old wood sills.
Just stumbled upon your channel. You are a GEM! I subscribed.
I love Saje!
I've broken three chemex carafes, and even more bodum french press carafes. Glass is doomed around me. I have fashioned a pour over with a metal reusable filter and a ceramic jug which I haven't yet broken (give it time). I happen to know that santa is bringing me a stainless steel carafe for xmas. I received an Aesop handsoap some years ago and LOVED IT. Now it is my go-to if I don’t have a very specific gift idea and I know the receiver has a taste for the finer things in life. Some more items for the gift list: - A good quality olive oil - Textile napkins - Small spoons for jam/salt/mustard etc. - A butter/cheese knife
Love those Einova stone wireless chargers! Have a few in my home

I really enjoy my Vessi Weekend shoes. I just got them for Black Friday. I have a Paderno Dutch oven and I Love it!
Oh, Nick . . . this was awesome. Well done. I agree with almost everything (love my 30 year old Le Creuset!). My mother-in-law, now in her 80s, is the most impossible person to shop for. She owns multiple houses in Vancouver, so not a poor woman. But she grew up in Northern Italy during WWII, and is frugal beyond belief (maybe why she can afford multiple homes in Vancouver). We've tried everything! And she wants to open a gift, for sure. She doesn't care about anything even remotely fancy. Has all the do-dads and so on. If you give her consumables (my favourite, btw), she will put them in a drawer (one day I will collect all these old soaps and whatnot). We tried experiences . . . but she has anxiety so she hated theatre, and going to restaurants was a nightmare too. Every 10 years her TV fails, so we can buy her a new one. This year it's December 20th and my husband and I are blank. And then you said "Dyson". Problem solved! She loves cleaning, so that will be perfect. Thanks, bello!
does that candle lighter doubles as a taser?
Vessi shoes are awesome! Our whole family is hooked, and they are Canadian to boot!!

I have been on an anti-MLM binge as of late (anti multi-level-marketing, "social networking", or whatever else the huns want to call it these days) and the moment you said Sage sells essential oils, I immediately said, "Oh, no" 😂. But I'm going to assume Sage is a legitimate business (not some consultant calling it their own "business"), so that's good. Edit: With that last entry...here I am sitting next to the Lodge dutch oven I got my mom for $40 from Walmart, already wrapped to be put under her tree today 😅. I have the same one and neither of us are top-tier chefs, so...I hope it still holds up to whatever we do with it, lol. I've not tried putting mine in the oven yet, but it had a slew of reviews from bread makers who said they had and it worked great...reviews I didn't read until AFTER I had bought mine, so...happy it seems to be durable!

Picky person here! Hate the coasters. Picky people like things that look good and function well. A coaster should be really, really thin. If you misplace your glass on a thick coaster, it will fall over. Disaster.

You are right. I bought stone coasters and they are pretty, but tall. So if you slightly miss putting a drink on there it will tip and make a mess, you have to be precise. This has proven to be a problem with older guests, maybe eyesight isn't as good, aim not as accurate.
My best friend was in love with the honey colored le creuset a few years ago so I ended up getting her a Dutch oven as a house warming gift. Needless to say it went over well.
