Nick plays in Memorain a speed/thrash metal band from Greece.

Those were really the most musically creative times for megadeth. Wish that mustaine will bring back the old line up from those days and they will write music making them internationally relevant again.

degrasso was great with suicidal tendencies too. i seen some live clips and he is super tight.

Nick and Degrasso but Degrasso was playing in too many bands at that time and therefore didnt have time to actually be a megadeth member but his drumming in rude awakeining was crazy!!! he does some of the best fills in the world!!!

i think my biggest problem is the way drover plays live. menza had the energy, degrasso had the massive drum fills, drover sounds like a drum machine. drover is an awesome guy and a great drummer, i just have certain expectations from a megadeth drummer. noone was more beastly than gar, though. RIP

any bit of drumming Nick ever did can be done by a drummer in his first year. any decent drummer can play any song in his genre, its how well the music comes out that matters.

To me Nick being compared to the Height of Czoy Powell Drum Legend for the band's that he associated with Dio, Black Sabbath, White snake etc., With Nick passing he too join Czoy in Heaven for Jamming...Rust in Piece.....Rest in Piece.....Hungry for Heaven.

@DETHFAN18ALL I doubt they will ever get Marty back, he is really successful in Japan. But we will never ever ever get to see the original line up, I think that if Gar and Chris cleaned themselves up, Megadeth would be crazy.

if by that u mean their classic line up with Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, Marty Friedman & Nick Menza then YES so does all the real Megadeth fans!

I would like to think that Gar Samuelson and Jimmy DeGrasso were at the top as far as technical ability is concerned. Samuelson never was able to show his true potential--he was fired from the band in 1987-88, so he only contributed to two studio albums. He didn't have a huge body of work outside of Megadeth, like DeGrasso, so we can only imagine what Samuelson was capable of doing. He was a very fluid and loose drummer; had a lot of interesting fills in Megadeth. Nick Menza rules, too.

yeah i know what your talking about. both of them are damn great drummers, but Menza plays the drums like he's having way too much fun!! Which is a damn good thing!! The way he bangs on the drums is crazy! I guess that's what you meant with him playing with "energy". Whereas Drover plays like he's concentrating too hard to hit the drums. No feel or anything. Check out Menza's drumming when they were rehearsing "5 Magics" Unfortunately, Mustaine wasn't playing, but still a kickass rehearsal.

I wish he'd rejoin Megadeth along with Marty, but as I recall, Dave and Nick didn't get along. As for Marty, he said he probably wouldn't go back to Megadeth again.

love menza, hes truly amazing but truth me told gar was far superior. the things he was doing at the time he was doing them were so far ahead of the curb in terms of tightness and speed in that style of drumming that was still developing. the entire killing is my business album is a fucking absolute flesh ripping drum performance.

Drover ain't bad by any means, but he doesn't have the energy Nick had. When you watch vids of the Rust In Peace tour, Nick was crazy. Drover is more of a human drum machine--- extremely accurate, but not much feeling.

IMO, he's a great drummer. He may not be as influential as Lars, but he was much, much tighter with the rest of his band. His drumming doesn't have a ridiculous amount of hiccups. That's all that matters to the average listener anyway.

atm, i think lars sucks, but dude .. back in '84- to '89 he was a pretty good drummer dude .. watch him in seatle in 1989, i thought he was fucking awesome, but yeah nick menza is a hell of a lot better, i'm just sayin that lars isn't shit ..well he is now haha
