At a technical level, I'm impressed. Of course I would be... It's Nick. At a musical level, driving home just now, listening to this, I am fed. I feel more confident, my spirits are lifted, old dreams arise again; Nick has tapped into something greater than the sum of the parts (tracks, perhaps?) in the work he has done here. I am grateful for this. I think, rather than pitch a fit, threaten to burn my guitar, or quit playing all together, I'll dig deeper. Instead of trying to outplay the man, or prove anything, it may prove best to simply outdo my own self, to go further than before. I may also just be low on sleep. Thanks, Nick!

@@RKMontgomery I'm a piano guy first, so that's what raises my hairs. The guitar is great as well. It's the sustains and like b7s that bring out the soul in works like this. It's simplicity but with a volume to it. His compositions have a feel of sincerity to them. Sure, there's a lot more going on at times, but you don't "notice" it, you just ride along with it.

Everything stops for a new Nick Johnston album.
I saw this, dropped everything and put on my headphones. What a journey. A dark adventure, chaotic, fraught with pitfalls and exhilarating splendors. Patiently weaving through the mist and finding spots of rest. Discovering a reimagined vision of power, and ultimately what it means to take on the journey again with new eyes. Thank you Nick for your art!

They won't block covers unless Nick wants them to and he won't. One of the nicest guys around. I have never been able to appreciate his guitar skills enough because his compositional beauty always seems to keep me so engrossed that I forget about individual instruments. My mom absolutely adores his work and is able to recognize his tracks even when spread randomly in my playlists, inspite of no background or special love for progressive rock /jazz music. Everybody else has already said what a wonderful work this is Nick: - how stunningly creative it is, such beautiful melodies, stunning tones, imaginative arrangements and orchestrations (not bashing the listener over the head with incessant guitar pyrotechnics) - gorgeous colours & techniques - highly emotional in an extremely positive way. So I can only agree. Thanks for sharing so generously your stunning skills and creativiey.
"These Echoes" hits my feelings like never an other song did. It makes me litteraly cry. Thanks you Nick
Mr. Johnston ,,, old guy here played for many years ,,,,, you are amazing sir.... nothing like the other guys completely different . and SO REFRESHING
My message to all of the modern shredders - this album is what music should be!
The fact that you have Nick Johnston, Andy James, Keith Merrow, Ola Englund, DavidMaxim Micic and Plini, just to name a few off the top of my head, bringing out stellar GUITAR based albums.... Man! Whoever said guitar was dead, clearly isn't listening to these guys take over from the old guard, who are also still bringing out awesome albums.

Man, this is fantastic - How did you ever get Benny Greb to play on this - Wowwww! Talk about a high class lineup here...
A lot of people at your skill level use music as a means to show off. You use it to compose music that is honestly so refreshing and...constructed. Your music is intentional, and you use complexity as a tool to explore music, not as a crutch. it's a lesson I think many forget. Keep on doing what you do man!

I've been a fan of yours for years, I bought your tablatures and spent an entire summer listening to your albums at a job I loathed. It helped me get through the days. I also went to one of your guitar clinics before you went on tour with animals as leaders. I was never more inspired to go home and pick up the guitar and practice, I almost wish I had recorded it to replay it. You've evolved so much as a composer over the years in my opinion and it's been quite a treat to be along for the ride. You've inspired me tons as I'm slowly attempting compositions myself. You're a true talent, I'm looking forward to hearing all your future works and hope to see you in my city again soon. I rep you as much as I can whenever the opportunity arises. Thanks for putting your music out there.
NIck don't sound like anyone in tone, tune, composition, feel, technique etc. He just sounds like he was inspired and influenced by own himself thats what i love about him and his trademark. This guy has truly given his soul to guitar!!

Every Drop of Blood. Outstanding and beautiful composition. You are one inspiring SOB! Thanks you for sharing this amazing and wonderful work. Lord, not NOT stop playing.
The thing that makes Nick and the band interesting, is that they make instrumental sounds into a story form. Everything resolves from one chord, different time changes etc. Thx man. Keep this ball rolling.
Nick, not only is your album a masterpiece of guitar playing but even more for writing beautiful music. The sound of the songs, the composition and usage of instruments, the creation of atmosphere and of course your guitar playing. Just wonderful.
