Love the extensions on mine I like the steering much more now than over stock.

Thanks for this! I was kinda curious about them but confirms that it wouldn't be the right choice for me.

Really liking how the bike handles and the increased ground clearance. Added two pieces of 1/4" thick aluminum with most of the middle plate cut away onto my aftermarket kickstand foot for a 3/4 rise. Haven't had any problems with the spring being overpowered by the weight when up. Does look a little like a club foot though. Thanks for these long term review vids.

I was thinking to do something similar with the kickstand. Hood to know it works.

I also feel the angle of the seat change a little bit and make it more confortable for me. The bike also looks more tall and bigger, also a win for overal look.

It sounds like it not only increases rake angle but lengthens the wheelbase a bit. This would account for better trailing/stability on gravel roads and mud and the slower turn in response on road. Sounds like a win overall.

Yep, great assessment. I think it works well, even with some of the downsides. Offroad performance is more important.

Thanks for the video Matt! I just installed the NiceCNC extenders today! Now lucky for me one of my best mates is a Supercars race car engineer here in Australia and has 3 Phd's to his name and was responsible for the homologation and technical engineering in devloping new race cars and has worked the great Roger Penske. When I presented him with the possible problem of these exetenders he made a few measurements and quickly came to the conclusion that its all positive. The taper has no bearing on the performance of the clamp and as far as structual damage, well he just laughed. So this makes this bike feel more like an adventure bike than a road bike, for me. So will probably keep them on till the time comes in a 2-3 years to sell and upgrade to the new model.

My exact thoughts as well. I prefer how the bike handles now. Much better offroad for sure. Great to have a Doctor confirm it for us. Cheers.

@@advmatt The Dr. owns a 690 Adventure and a Husky, so he does ride off road a lot. I was actually regretting buying this bike as I love the comfort and standing position on my 2020 VStrom 650XT. The 390 felt like a road bike trying to pretend it’s an ADV bike, but I realised I was kinda stuck with it so I’m going about making changes so feels more comfortable for me. Next is exhaust and a FuelX Lite. Everything on the feet has been upgraded.

@@roysyntageros4191 once you make the changes to this bike to fit you it will come into its own. I think the big bar upgrade made a huge difference too.

@@roysyntageros4191 yep. I did a whole video on upgrading to 1 1/8 bars. I went with a straighter bend and much prefer it.

I've seen Hockey pucks used on the bottom of the side stand before and tbinking of trying on mine... Just a thought.

I used one on my F800gs. Might try it again here too.

Ive been running with mine fitted for about 6months now and i think the pros outway the negatives. I much prefer the extra bit of ground clearance and also how the bike handles now, especially offroad(gravel). I did not like how twitchy and front heavy it used to feel, now it feels lighter and more planted in the turns. I also have bar risers and in combiantion with the extenders the bike feels bigger and comfortable to ride now. The triple clamp issue doesnt phase me in the least. Only negative i find is the short side stand now but i will added about an inch into that soon so problem solved.

I am with you. The handling in sand and gravel is better so I am planning to keep them installed as well.

i'm sticking with stock, i got the black dog skid plate, doesn't seem worth the 3/4" ground clearance

Hi, Matt. I'm wondering what you think of the sheepskin. Does it help with pressure soreness from long road rides, or only temperature comfort. Any other pros/cons?

I think it helps some with pressure points. I was really trying to see if it would help with monkey butt, which it did some in really hot weather. I am not sure if I will keep it on. I need to see how it works over the winter. In rain it gets wet and holds the moisture longer than plain seat.

@advmatt Thanks. I've never had the rash/skin irritation problem. I suffer pain under my two sit bones on ever bike I've ever ridden. I find the power parts seat to be identical to the stock seat (and comfortable at the start). My BMW R1250 RS has a very comfortable seat, but 45-60 minutes on a ride and I need to stop. I have a pair of Moto-Skivees coming in a few days... I hope they help.

@@bacbladerunner I have found padded shorts extend my riding time by about 25% before I have to get off the bike. Let me know how those work out for you.

It's a great tail rack especially for the money. I have had no issues and would buy it again tomorrow if I need a tail rack. Hope this helps.

I have the extenders, didn't really notice much difference. My ? to you is unrelated, Did you notice any difference by switching rims? Is there a weight savings? That's my big thing is shedding weight. I got the performance I want, now it's about trimming this thing down. Thanks buddy.

I haven't weighed the wheels individually, but I believe the cast wheels weigh less. The spoked rim is quite heavy and when you add tubes you increase the weight.

Are the dampening adjusters are less accessible? Maybe another negative.

Yeah, I thought about that too, but a quick flip of the cap and there is access. It is much more of a pain in the butt then just dialing them.

Hey Matt, did you end up fixing the problem of the bike leaning over so much? I am thinking of screwing/glueing a bit of HDPE plastic under the side stand foot extender. There are extenders made of alloy for Harleys but they are a bit expensive.

I did, video will be out in about three weeks. I sandwiched a hockey puck between two kickstand foot enlargers. Just finished it yesterday. Came out great. Need to edit the video and get it posted.

I am not a huge fan of center stands for bikes I ride off pavement. My experience with center stands is they bounce around a lot and create more spots for the bike to get snagged. The cost of the center stands also seem high. Mostly it's personal preference.

Do you rise the rear shock as well?

No, there is no way to lift the rear shock.

473 / 5.000 Hi, how are you? I just installed the extenders, and I love how the bike turned out. I am 1.90 tall and together with the handlebar extenders I am very upright on the motorcycle while standing. The only thing that leaves me a little worried is the safety, but I read comments that they had no problems with them breaking or coming off? I estimate that nice people are serious and professional. I await your comments regarding security and how long you have had them installed.... thank you very much

The fork extenders are manufactured in a way that they are not able to come out of the triple clamp. The small reduction in clamping surface along the forks at the lower clamp have not been a problem. I have around 6000 to 8000 miles on the fork extenders. I am guessing at the mileage, but I have had then installed for a long time with no issues.

@@advmatt One more question, do you think that just adjusting the screws of the clamps is fine or do you have to put a product so that the screws do not loosen? Can they be loosened with vibration? Did you have to adjust them from time to time?

No, the only way to do it is to install a shock with a longer eye to eye measurement. I had trouble trying to find a shock that would work.

yes and that would be at a significant cost , so it in net effect changes the bikes geometry a wee bit @@advmatt

Tractive Extreme i believe can be extended or length custom if i understand it correctly , but thats if its even available for this model and its $1800 before changing the length @@advmatt
