These finishes are rather fragile when they get old because they are easily damaged by UV. This one survived rather well.

I love this pre-war-period set you got back to active service again. Even with BT you install in the sets you work on!

I look at it this way. Current AM broadcasting is horrifically uninteresting except to far-right political junkies and extremely conservative Christians. Sports are no better covered than on FM or satellite. BT gives these radios a real reason to be used and enjoyed by people who aren't interested in them in and for themselves such as we are.

@@ethelryan257 you are so right, Ethel. If people are comfortable with listening to AM/FM that's fine. If they want BT for streaming music that's fine too.

I like the fact that you do not edit out the mistakes. Let's face it...they do happen. Another successful repair! I think the sales of Old English have probably increased by 10% as a result of your videos.

Your audio input mod is so cool and clever. Using an old radio is a cheap way to get a powerful tube based amplifier which audiophiles pay extreme amounts for. I use a consumer DAW (not Audacity) and remixing from digital sources definitely kills upper end harmonics/overtones it seems.

I'm more familiar with the T-62 which is the same radio with a change tube wise in a two tone mahogany cabinet. This blonde version is quite more of a rarer prewar find. Test the replacement tubes first guys. Then replace the e-caps. Then turn it on using a variac! Finish is very nice on cabinet especially around the area by the controls. Good restoration there Seth even if you didn't get a new eyetube in it. I love radios with them in and working.

If you ohm out the power chord with the power switch on,you will see if the primary of the transformer is open.

Good afternoon noon. I had a RCA stereo console restored .. after having it back home within a month the speakers on one side. Seem too not work correctly. Like a waffling hum softer but only on one side it happens too. I try different speaks on that side but that didn’t change the sound.. what do you think?
