Today we've got another Euro 3 Volvo B7RLE, with a rather loud ZF Ecomat which sounds beautiful! You can hear it very audibly during accelerations & decelerations as well as idling! Unlike the previous B7RLE on this channel, this one has a 5-Speed ZF Gearbox, however there's no kickdown on this bus it seems... but the Ecomat definitely makes up for it! We did hit speeds of 50/51mph on the route, expected for an NSL Section! Not much else to say really...

Im suprised that they managed to upgrade from Euro 3 possibly to 6 by extending alot its lifespan
Is the loud gearbox caused by a defect or just random

The sound is produced by the gears themselves within the ecomat gearbox. The reason being the ecomat uses straight-cut gears and so when they mesh together they produce sound, unlike the Ecolife which has helical gears, so they mesh together much more nicely. This is also why 4th gear makes very little noise on the Ecomat, because in this gear the ratio of engine gear to output gear is 1:1 (i.e the same, so you can think of the engine as being directly connected to the wheels) so there is no multiplication or division of power as there is in the other gears.

Facts, some EcoLife’s do accelerate better through 1st and 2nd, but for sound, Ecomat all the way
