‘There is no difference between you and a dog!’ Those were the words that Apiyo’s husband told her before he abandoned her.
Dejected, poor and with a baby on her back, Apiyo came back to Nairobi and set out to brewing Changaa and drinking all night.
If a man in a club refused to buy her a drink, she would wrestle him to the ground, make sure she has overpowered him then sit on him and take all his money. She would spend some on alcohol and the rest on food for her babies. That’s how she nursed the pain of her divorce.
