i dont live in Edmonton anymore but was fortunate to be one of 16,000 or so people who got to experience firsthand the Oilers first cup win in 1984...i cant even describe what it was like....the whole city lost its mind that night. hoping the good people of Edmonton get to see them hoist a cup this year. lets go Oilers!

I also do not live in Edmonton anymore, but, like you, was also privileged to see the Oilers win their first Cup (and, a few of the subsequent ones). I even saw the Messier Cup. However, I do not think that Edmonton will ever again win the Cup.

My story isn't quite that good, but it's decent nonetheless.... In 2006 I was playing peewee AAA spring hockey in Edmonton. The Oilers had JUST won 4-0 against Carolina to send it to game 7. I'm from a small town in the NWT, but my father worked for an airline which is how we could afford to fly down on weekends for me to play. Only one parent would come down for the weekend, as I had a younger brother at home that needed caring for. This weekend it was my mother. Anyways, were driving down some road coming back from one of my games that weekend, maybe whitemud maybe yellowhead, maybe some other road that I don't even know. I honestly don't remember because I was 13. But the sides of the road were PACKED with people celebrating. I was high-fiving people as we're going down the road at what feels like a snails pace. There were people climbed onto EVERYTHING that could be climbed onto on the sides of the street, going absolutely wild, waving Stanley Cup replicas around. Horns were endless. Being from the NWT, this blew my mind; it was awesome. But not as awesome as what happened next... At some point a cab loaded with what was clearly some very inebriated people pulls in ahead of us. They're mostly out the windows, also high-fiving everyone and losing their minds. When all of a sudden, a woman in the back seat leans out the window up to her waist with her arms up in the air, looks towards the car behind her (my mother and I) and proceeds to earn herself some mardi-gras beads. I never looked at my mom, I was pretty fixated on the show, but I remember her saying "OH MY GOSH" in the most embarrassed tone I've ever heard her use. Meanwhile I was cheesing like a little idiot for the entirety of those 3 seconds and probably an hour afterwards. And that's how I saw my first ever pair of boobies. I owe it to the 2005-2006 Edmonton Oilers.

Wasn't pretty, but what a big two points for the boys!! Only 3 back of Vancouver now after we were 17 back at one time, that's just insane. I always wonder why commentators try to pronounce some names correctly and others not. Best examples here are Kylington and Kadri. Nobody tries to pronounce Leon Draisaitl's name correctly. I mean it's alright, but either do it with all names or none.

Um... no it doesn't. PP goals don't count as plusses. Both of CGY's goals were PP. He only needed to be on the ice for ONE goal, and it probably thd empty netter...

McD hits 100 assists next game, which is astonishing... but there's a strong likelihood that Kucherov (grr) gets there too. A total that's only been done by 3 players ever could see two more in the same season... which itself only happened once when 99 and 66 both got 114 in the same year.

3 goals on 23 shots is pathetic. .885sv% is inexcusable, this is why some teams are hesitant to give too much up for Marksbum. Any team with Stanley Cup aspirations may eventually have to go thru McDavid and co., and so long as that man (McDavid) is in his prime, Marksbum is a liability for any team running him as the starter in net. But tbh CGY was kinda screwed either way you spin it. Dustin wolf is an overrated fraud and Marksbum couldn't be relied to stop a beach ball if it were launched by McDavid
