    @@RedroomStudios I would say the leafs looked really slow tonight and the forecheck was non existent for most of the night. The 2nd period was terrible for the leafs. First period was ok and the last 7 min of regulation was good. The leafs can play so much better.

    @@chrisg1556 Yeah that 2nd period mostly and ‘somewhat’ 3rd period had me clenching my seat. So many nervous give aways and turnovers. We were lucky to clinch this win, couple no calls on both sides. We also got lucky on the whistle of that reviewed goal. I get the rule but was very very lucky. The played good in OT and were hungry for the dub. Sammy and O’Reilly were our stars tonight. I was impressed with Matthews as well.

    Agree with the ROR comment, but not the rest. We’ve scored 3+ goal against vasi/tampa in 10/11 playoff games; however, whenever tampa plays another team vasi is talked about as a god and best goalie in the league. It’s not really leaf’s vs tampa, it’s leaf’s vs leaf’s.

  • @mtlienz2279

    @mtlienz2279

    It's "impenetrable" bc leafs aren't finishing their checks, forecheck is weak, puck possesion being thrown away into a dump n chase game. WHEN tb is actually "challenged" you see how easily they get frustrated, start playing dirty, taking penalties n starting scrums/fights. You can't beat TB in playoffs just by playing against them, you have to dominate them. THAT is what Colorado did, they DOMINATED TB on BOTH sides of the ice AND controlled the puck/game.....Leafs just keep throwing pucks away, playing defense by letting TB bring it to them and then fighting for 50/50 chance. Even when they got possession in their own end so many times they just so carelessly handle puck casually instead of with strength to start attack....dominate them PHYSICALLY and the game WILL be MUCH different.....if TB advances, they will have VERY difficult time against Bruins, Canes & even Rangers who all play very physically dominating game. Diff mentalities here, Leafs ain't ready for SC lack of hunger

    @@mtlienz2279 the leafs did finish checks though, and they have some of the best forechecking forwards in the league. The fact that tampa was able to stifle them and dominate defensively while injured is a testament to how good they are. I’m sorry but they have made the cup finals 3 years in a row, it’s not the leafs lacking in effort, it’s the fact that they are a force to be reckoned with healthy or injured. I’m shocked the leafs won tonight

  • @mtlienz2279

    @mtlienz2279

    @@Nimajneb42069 we can agree to disagree. Game 3, TB controlled most the game and had majority of offensive time. If leafs were finishing checks and forechecking they wouldve created much more offensive attacks and momentum.....like in game 2.... Sure TBL is stacked and plays great. They can be beaten too. If you notice their path to those SC victories n even the finals last year has included not playing against the EC Heavyweight BIG BOYS (Bruins, Pens & Caps) with the exception of beating Bruins once in the 1st Covid Cup and following year played against 4 teams they had most wins against. Pretty interesting if u do the math. Sports is a RIGGED game, like any other market and the NHL is all about "optics". Canada ain't winning another SC for very long time

    I'm really happy Sammy pulled it together for OT and he made some BIG saves here and there, goal 2 was kind of his fault completely though as he lost the play entirely and then pretty much swatted a shot that wasn't even heading towards the net into his own goal, and then he looked like he kind of just gave up on the 3rd goal against. I was worried about him for a bit there BUT I think being able to pull through on this one with a great stretch down the end should give him the confidence he needs for the rest of the series.

It is because this is real world data based on previous series and not statistics. After this next game, 2 out of the remaining 3 games are at SBA in Toronto. So over all the most likely result right now (after game 3) is Leafs in 5. That stays the same if they win game 4. If they lose game 4, the most likely result is Leafs in 6.

    The hockey gods were on the Leafs side tonight. Good win for the buds with a very struggling 2nd and 3rd period. Whole different team in OT. Thankfully or it most likely would have went the other way. Very close chances in OT for both sides. Glad they didn’t quit. I know Matthews didn’t expect that from Stamkos and isn’t a fighter but I respect the way he handled himself with that little scrum apposed to someone else jumping in for him. Gary just sent out a memo. Matthews broke his hand during the "pummeling by Stamkos" incident. He just didn't know it (adrenaline). Okay, there have been so many comments on that fight that I've got to say this. From the angle I saw the "incident" it looks like Matthews wasn't doing much until O"Reilly showed up, at which point Matthews instantly starts acting like he's a known killer and attacks Stamkos thinking O'Reilly is going to be doing the fighting. Unfortunately for Matthews, O'Reilly disappears and all I saw was Stamkos throwing this ragdoll around, over and over, blue gloves everywhere, lovingly caressing the words "help me, oh God, Please, I'm going to die on national television"" into Stamkos uniform through the palms of his blue gloves. That's all I saw.

    Schenn wasn't MVP or anything, but he had a great, calm game. Lots of great calm retrievals and clean exits. Net front presence to protect Sammy.

    It’s definitely an advantage when Tampa is used to playing on horrible ice all year and the buds have to adjust to that

    always wondered why physical play and big hits are almost never shown in these highlight videos?

    They want to slowly condition “new fans” to think that’s not normal and eventually ban fighting in hockey

    @@itaintobeezy won’t happen they don’t show them because these videos would be 29 minutes long…would be entertaining to see the leafs physically manhandle this team in the recaps though. You forget how much punishment the tampa players have been receiving through 3 games when your watching it live.

    They sometimes are. This game was 4 periods long and SN videos are normally 8-9 minutes. Gotta trim stuff out.

    O’Reilly has been incredible this series. Could go down as Dubas’s best/smartest acquisition.
