The team that is behind usually pulls the goalie in the last couple of minutes so they can have an extra player on offense , making it a 6 on 5, and effectively making the defending team shorthanded.
Rielly got five games for that first one, and I think that's generous! Clear retaliatory cross-check to the head. Probably got lucky it didn't injure him, since DoPS does take that into account.

Subban and Tkachuk. Both ultra-talented but with scrub mentality. Each frustrated with his own poor play, decides to attack another player. No class. No honor. Just scrubbiness.
If you’re going to score an empty net, score it with sportsmanship.
Not sure I understand the first clip. The announcer said "the game's over," and yet it wasn't. So the team ahead was supposed to just let the other team shoot until they tied? Come on. Yes, if it was 5 to 1 or something, then shot on empty net I see as unwarranted, but up by 1? Finish it and score. Don't like that they did that? Don't be behind.
Not one of these goals was “showing the other team up”. This is all just examples of frustration and players not being able to handle losing, even the ones like Konecny which was just a little love tap.

Here is my take on the Greig/Rielly debate. Greig did not have to slapshot the empty net. But he could, no rule against it. Rielly could not do that. Rule against it. Unsportsmanlike does not apply to style points/cellies/whatever. It does apply to retaliation against getting scored on. Not that hard to understand

It's a little known rule, but the goalie is required to pick up the drycleaning for the team when the drycleaner calls. Sometimes that happens during game time. It's unfortunate if that happens to your team, but you can't argue with tradition.

The problem is there arent any consequeneces if you trip, slash, fight and hurt someone of an ENG. You get meaningless 2min and the games is already over.
Australian here can someone explain to me where the goalies are and why people are cross sticking chaps in the face for scoring?
@freddie6307
12 күн бұрын
when teams get desperate for more scoring chances in the third period, they'll sometimes take out their goalies in exchange for putting an extra man on the ice. this is usually a last resort, and you have to have really solid defense in order to find even a little bit of success this way. as for your second question, many players are emotionally immature lmao
Not a big hockey guy but im guessing this is the equivalent of the unspoken rule in NBA of just holding the ball and not shooting when time is running down for end of the game?
