NHL completely botched Sam Bennett's interference call in Bruins-Panthers Game 4

Спорт

Bruins radio analyst Bob Beers says that Florida's Sam Bennett should have been suspended for Game 4 against the Bruins because of his hit on Brad Marchand in Game 3. Beers also says that Bennett should have been called for a cross-check and goalie interference on his controversial goal in Game 4, adding the NHL "botched" the Bennett situation "all the way around."

Does anyone know if the referee who was leaning against the boards only feet away with a perfect view of the Bennett punch to Marchands head ( I’m talking about the angle that was finally released just before game game 4 when it was too late to access a suspension ) is that the same referee that was just to the left of the net on the Bennett cross check that called it a good goal ?

It's not fixed or rigged. It's definitely manipulated, though. Goodell does this in the NFL and has for years. Cap leagues make more money when the money is spread out all over the league. They try not to make it obvious, but sometimes it is. They just can't help themselves. The rules have mystery grey areas that are used in real time during replays. It's creepy.

The only thing botched was the bruins recording the same shots on goal all series as much as the panthers have in one single game and still complaining about bad calls after playing like garbage. Coyle was already in the exact spot swayman had to move to to make the save before the push happened. Coyle was already in the exact spot swayman needed which always impeded his movement before the push but keep crying. There’s been plenty of bad calls on both sides like pasta assaulting Lundel, the E rod elbow, the high stick that directly lead to a goal in game 1, the 6 consecutive cross checks against one of the panthers, I could continue! It’s a joke to think it’s one sided. A few missed calls isn’t going to stop a team like the panthers that recorded the same amount of shots in one game that the bruins have all series so far. The Boston babies love to cry, they cried after 2019 when there were some controversial calls, but there were bad calls on both sides! Coyle was already well in the crease in front of swayman moments before Bennett touched him, the only question is did Sam’s push fully cause the blockage, was Charlie far enough away that the push was the thing that caused swayman to not be able to slide? No, Charlie was already well into the blue/crease in the literal exact location swayman had to be to make that play just moments before Sam touched him, so without the push swayman still most likely can’t make that save with Coyle right in the way, or at least taking the goal away is very hard and it should be a hard call since it’s difficult to make the argument it was Sam’s fault when Charlie was already in the exact space Jeremy had to be before the push was initiated

You may have just explained WHY Bettman is cheating. That said, Marchand has been on his best behavior for many, many years now and has never been known as a headhunter with this stick like what Bennett does. There are so many back room politics in sports, but the NFL is the worst with the blatant league cheating. Note how MLB has no cap and we never see any questionable video reviews. I think it's because MLB has been called in front of Congress for the roid thing in 2005 and they just don't want anything like that ever again. The NFL cheats constantly and now Bettman seems to be joining using the same model. It's always about money, so there has to be a reason why they wanted Florida over Boston here. Always follow the money.

You're basically exposing the Bettman's cheating focus here. Marchand hasb't been suspended in years and years and years. So, why would you suspend one person like Marchand, deservedly so, and not another? Do you realize how hypocritical that sounds? Bennett is " a serial offender", yet you're ok with Marchand's antics from 7 years ago being a reason why Boston should be cheated when another team's player is doing things Marchand did, even though Marchand was never a headhunter with the buttend of his stick. Gotcha. Why don't you just tell us you approve of Bettman's cheating in the first sentence and be done with it?

It was not like Swayman was being interfered with by Player "A" to enable Player "B" to score a goal. THE PUCK WAS RIGHT THERE IN THE GOAL CREASE. Either Coyle or Bennett could have played the puck, except Bennett pushed Coyle OFF THE PUCK, and then he himself scored. But you are trying to put a different spin on what actually happened, to call it "goalie interference". When the puck is in the crease, and still loose, is stick slapping it under the goalies pads, "goalie interference"??? Making contact with the goalie, is not always goalie interference, it depends where the puck is, and the circumstances of how the goal was scored. If the puck had been out somewhere between the circles, and the goal had been scored from there, and that same pushing event took place, then that would have been "goalie interference" for sure. It would probably have been a penalty, because Bennett would have been interfering with a player who had no puck to play.

Rule 69.1 If a defending player has been pushed, shoved, or fouled by an attacking player so as to cause the defending player to come into contact with his own goalkeeper, such contact shall be deemed contact initiated by the attacking player for purposes of this rule, and if necessary a penalty assessed to the attacking player and if a goal is scored it would be disallowed. Also 69.7 In a rebound situation, or where a goalkeeper and attacking player(s) are simultaneously attempting to play a loose puck, whether inside or outside the crease, incidental contact with the goalkeeper will be permitted, and any goal that is scored as a result thereof will be allowed I think in 69.7 the key words are incidental contact (not) and also simultaneously attempting to play a loose puck (Bennett was not trying to play the puck at the same time as Coyle as he had both hand in a cross check on Coyle) Sorry but there is just no justification for the non-call my friend

The irony of a Bruin getting cross checked (which isn't a cross check in my book but has been against the Bruins constantly). It's beyond clear the league has it in for the Bruins and it may or may be tied to Marchand's history even though it's been scaled way back for years. Otherwise, there is no explanation for any of this. It's beyond intentional that Bettman is cheating. The main culprit may be Colin Campbell a known cheater, somehow still employed by the NHL.

They just want the result so they can feel good about it, like Goodell and his owners do. My guess is this is retribution for naming Marchand captain. It may be more than that as well. Usually it's tied to greed and money, but you have to wonder what it is they love about the Miami market so much in the NHL. Arizona is moving to Utah, so it could be a momentum push to sell the idea smaller market teams can win in the NHL. People forget that these sports leagues make their money off of eyeballs on tv sets now tied to gambling. That money has vested interest by the owners, obviously. The gate money pays the bills, playoffs create a profit, tv ratings however are where the money is at, especially in Goodell's creepy NFL. Bettman appears to be trying to copy that formula. Congress approached MLB on the roid issue in 2005. We never see MLB cheating during a replay like the NFL or now the NHL. That reason is MLB doesn't want to attract attention and since Goodell has never been brought in front of Congress, he's going to keep cheating to keep his job until something happens.
