Ovechkin is still playing and most likely won’t retire until he breaks the scoring record.
Your chest has some protection, your pants have padding to cover the front of your thighs and flexible pads that offer some light kidney and tailbone protection but your abdomen and pretty much your entire backside including back of the legs is unprotected. But the worst place to get hit as far as immediate intense pain is the foot. Even if the shot isn’t hard a good pass in the foot hurts like hell.
