Great vid. I’m starting to learn more about Linux and just heard about Nginx. Thanks for the clear explanation. I’m eventually going to use Nginx and Zerotier to do a reverse tunnel from an Oracle VPS back to my home network which is behind a CGNAT.

Very well done!! This video, and the way you presented the information helped me a lot. I'm transitioning from mechanical engineering to IT (preferrably cybersecurity eventually) and this was just what I need!!! Thanks again...Calvin

Thanks for the vid friend. For the problem with slow downloading via VMs - this can be solved in many instances by disabling packet coalescing. It's different for every adapter, but typically is found in the 'advanced' tab of device properties.

Hello! I want to deploy a piranha cms website in nginx but even though I added my user to the www-data group it won't let me write to it. I just need to run a command that creates the piranhacms site inside the folder. Is there something else I need to do?

The quickest way to get started is to install it bro. Install virtualbox and play around with it..

Great tutorial!! Question, if I want to use Nginx as a reverse proxy do I need to use Docker along side of Nginx???

Maybe i can answer the question. If you run Docker you can download off-the-shelf Nginx reverse proxy container images. Once the container is up and running it works as a reverse proxy and you can even request certificates from Let's Encrypt. That's all built in the container. If you installed Nginx just like this video you have to do some configuration to make it works as a reverse proxy.

You need to open the port in your router. Most ISP's block port 80 so it has to be a different port. Search open port on your brand router. Its different based on the brand. Then forward to your local servers IP address.
