Regina that’s why God tells us to discern. Not to be simple minded and believe every word we hear. “Do not believe every spirit.” Book of John. It’s a painful lesson for all of us because we tend to think that those who are leaders or older than us, or those in authority mean well or speak the truth. Remember the sad story of the young prophet in Bethel (1st Kings 13:26---) who got deceived by an Older prophet. Often people’s deeds reveal the truth/ and the motive in their hearts and not what they say.
