This brought back memories. Back around 1975 my father lived in the same apartments as Harvey Martin and Ed too tall Jones. I was maybe 7 , and Harvey lived in the building next to my father's, I went and knocked on the door and asked for an autograph. I was 7 and didnt know better. Harvey had a few people over but took the time to go out to his copper colored Cadillac and pop the truck and gave me a handful of Cowboys stuff and a NFL football. Then he said Ed lives over in this building and he walked me over to Ed's , then walked me to my building. Thanks guys.

I would say definitely for Harvey. He was a consistent all out beast of a pass rusher, and quick on the run. And, maybe for Too Tall. Given Jones ability to cloud the passing lane, like no other DL before or since, yes.

Harvey should be in. Too Tall is Hall of Very Good for me. Consistent quality, but never elite. He had 10 fewer sacks than Harvey Martin but played 5 more seasons.

Total travesty of justice that Jerrah put Charles Haley in the Cowboys Ring of Honor over Harvey Martin & Too Tall. No dis to Haley at all but he only played half of his career in Dallas & both Harvey & Too Tall played their ENTIRE career in Dallas. Both men played in some of the biggest games in franchise history & played very well !!!! Harvey Martin might have been the best DE in pro football from 1977-1979 !

PEOPLE MIA FROM OUR ROH (GIL BRANDT,MARTIN, TOO TALL and MY TWO HEROES OF ALL TIME CHARLIE WATERS AND BILL BATES. Hoenstly, you can NOT have Meredith and soon to be Romo in our ROH and not DANNY WHITE. It was NOT Danny's Fault....that play in 1983 fine but Danny had a great career for us and Landry NEVER should have played Hogeboom.

Go watch some old-school football from before they had face-masks (which were added around the 1950's, and rules regarding them lagged behind several years, until after they realized it injured player's necks if their face-mask was grabbed). Nobody goes for the face or leads with their head back then. They go for a clean wrap-up around the waste, and generally are trying not to get hurt. The addition of all this protective gear allows them to put themselves into more exciting situations, under the premise that "the helmet will protect you" - it doesn't protect as good as it looks like it would, so they have to have special rules to make up for the false sense of safety the protective gear provides. Today's game IS wayyyy more violent than it used to be, and way more exciting. Seriously, go watch an old leather-head game and be honest, does that look more exciting?
