He was my favorite player on the georgia offense to watch the last couple of years. He brings a big time physicality to an offense. He's not Gronk, but he is Darnell Washington.

He might be one of the greats if he goes to the cowboys the way they develop and use TE's 6'7 best 40 time at his position and killed the shuttle

@Caleb Crawford I think of him as more of a Jonnu Smith as a receiver but a Mercedes Lewis type blocker. If needing a kelce type receiving TE Washington may not be your guy, but he certainly can take a dump off pass and get you the first, plus be a weapon in the red zone. He will murder people in the run game.

@@manwhosayf considering they have cd, cooks and gallup i think hell be used as more of a block and leak out guy if he was drafted there and gradually get more involved in the passing game to see what his ceiling is just my ideal landing spot but for all we know he might be gone by that pick

And now if they cover Freiermuth, Robinson, Pickens or DJ we'll throw it to this monster to destroy DB's.

@@timsmith8886 - I have no problem with that but at the goal line he should be a fake block pass option. Those plays always pop wide open.

Watched every game Darnell played in at UGA and love this guy! Steelers got a good one. Hard working, humble kid that helped raise his family when in high school. What a story. Hoping nothing for the best for this guy. What a great human being.

I really hope the Steelers could get Washington with a 2nd rounder after gettin a tackle in first and possibly Turner from Michigan with the 32nd, our 1st 2nd round pick. so basically a top Otackle, and Turner and Washington. 2 TE sets with Muth and Pickens. Johnson. Najee behind a revamped Oline🙏 I'd be happy after the free agency we had. and im predicting a 13W season for Steelers. and Kenny making an MVP run. Mark it down. go Steelers!

Hey Dill, you pretty much nailed it! But how much better is it we got him in the 3rd round, even after trading BACK to 93!!?! And we got our OT in the first round, 1st or 2nd best one in the draft depending on who you listen to. AND Joey Porter Jr at 32! I’m also big on Benton at 49.

@@dillwidit This off-season has been ridiculous. I’m 50 and I’ve never seen us have an off-season like this one. And how lucky were we to have Kenny fall all the way to us last year? Let’s go! I was very skeptical that the promotion of Omar Khan was another Steelerism, favoring loyalty perhaps over picking the absolute shark for the job. And I know not having a star QB salary frees up a lot of cap space that Colbert never had, but OMG am I convinced! We’re now living the Wrath of Khan! He is an other-worldly GM. Can’t wait for the years to come. And as a side note I was doubly skeptical on the hiring of Andy Weidl. I knew he had a great reputation in the league so I took it to mean he was a hire to backstop Khan because the brass didn’t have real confidence Khan could pull off the big boy role. Forget it. Khan is clearly comfortable in the role and Weidl is clearly putting his stamp on the team with these signings and now picks. Unbelievable. 13 wins is about right!

Then before that even,was a fan of your Dads,even though I grew up a saints fan since I was 10 years old in 1990 ( born and raised along the gulf coast of Louisiana). He's a shade more than 2020 Gronk in the metrics. He blocks, has huge catch radius, and has Gronk-like catching ability. If he's can learn the TE position at the NFL level, he can potentially be a perennial Pro Bowler. Cincy should take him at 28 if Kincaid is taken by GB at 15.

DW to the Packers please. Packers 49er type 12-personnel offense will definitely be able to make optimum use of DW. Many teams may be interested in his size etc. but may not be a good fit. Packers will definitely be a good fit. Best fit!

Block and release offensive schemes like the Packers did

Really hope the Bengals nab him in round 1 or trade up/down to nab him really early in round 2, cause the Packers will most likely nab him in round 2 otherwise. He'll open up so many options in our offense with his blocking skills, such as an improved running game and far less times of Burrow getting sacked. Those two points alone are worth their weight in gold, then he's also faster than Gronk to boot. He's got so much potential to be an elite TE for years to come and think the current opening in the Bengal's TE group offers the perfect opportunity to turn our TE spot into something special. Burrow, Chase, Higgins, Washington for next few years would be an amazing lineup of players to have in a single team...

I've been a saints fan since 1990 when I was ten years old, so I was a fan long before Drew Brees showed up,and watched his entire 16 year career in NOLA. I think you are going to learn that once you have a top 3 QB in the league,and AFTER you have to start paying him like one,you'll find that MOST of the draft picks,and big name free agent signings will go towards defense and along the OL. I saw it with Drew. Because the QB is so good and paid so much you have to have one go to guy (cause it's all you can afford)and then a lot role players at the skill positions. I saw it with Brees year in and year out. WR is the most expensive position after QB. You guys already have Chase,and he is your "go to guy" on top of that you got what I would call a decent to good Rb in Mixon, and a "good" ( not great) wr in Higgins. It sucks but eventually you'll have to see some people leave( that's how half the saints team wound up playing for the bengaks even they went to the superbowl)and you'll really just be sitting on your hands hoping to get a blessing at one of the skill positions in the middle to late rounds of the draft. You saw same thing with Mahomes this year,one Tyrik,or 5 role players at WR? What can you do? With a QB like Joe though you should be alright.

Why GA didn't use him way, way more is baffling to me. And I know GA had/has Brock Bowers and BB is, potentially, the best true TE (not a WR-TE like the FLA guy that went to ATL in the first five picks recently), but still = how do you have someone with Washington's abilities and not use him in a two-TE set?!? That said, and as much as I want the Bengals to draft an OT, I will be ecstatic if the Bengals draft Darnell with their #28 pic (and go OT in the 2nd rd.). OR even better get him in the 2nd rd at 60!)) This pic will scare the entire NFL = Making the Bengals Offense and Burrow even better is downright frightening.

They did use him in two TE sets. Georgia ran lots of 21 Personnel BECAUSE of DW's abilities. He just saw fewer passes because of Bowers than he would have otherwise.

Route running is irrelevant.. at 6'7, no one can cover him anyway. Any DB that gets that's high, is gonna be reaching, stretching and will be mossed

When I watch the tape he looks slow, it must be because his legs are so long.
