Heywood Jablomy did he hit him in the back? No. Did he hit him after the whistle? No. Did he hit him below the knees? No. Rivers jaw broke because he refused to wear a mouth guard. It isn’t a dirty hit to blast someone when they aren’t looking. Well, wasn’t at the time anyway...

I believe the hit by Ward at 5:15 shattered Keith Rivers's jaw and he was done for the year. They made a rule change immediately at the end of the year to try and stop it - the Hines Ward rule.
