Tatum released the book they call me the assassin. In 1980,that cleared things up. A little. He said he didn't think the hit was bad. He said when he didn't move at all, and they brought the stretcher out,he was concerned. John Madden used to visit Stingley in the hospital. And he said, Tatum tried to vist him in the hospital. I don't know, but Madden retired after that game.

Steve Grogan should apologize for throwing that hospital pass. Stingley had to reach out and up while running into the middle… Tatum’s territory. Grogan left him unprotected.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s upsetting to me however thedirty hits. It’s to the point now, no one can lay a good hit. It’s disgusting. But, I completely agree. Take the the cheaper shot hits out of the game. I agree helmet to helmet shouldn’t be permitted. But, damn allow a defender to do something. Anytime a good hit is performed today. Regardless of it being clean or not they are going to throw a flag if it was a hard hit. This part ticks me off. league went too far cleaning up the d

I have a totally different approach on this issue !!! These hits should all be legal today !!! Professional Football is a violent sport and if you choose to play be ready pay. Jack Tatum played the sport the way it had been played for many years. "Come into my area be ready to pay the price." the answer "Dont go into his area." Many defensive and some offensive players played with the same attitude. Thats what made the NFL the game it was. I say it was, because its a gone now. The Fan base is shrinking fast! But glad I got to see it when it was real! I never watch it anymore. I stay with College more Real!
