NF knew what he was getting into when he asked Tech 9 to feature on this track. As good as Nate did, he knew Tech was gonna blow it up. Nate was honored that Tech would agree to do a feature with him, and Tech showed utmost respect for Nate cause he kept it clean, he didn't curse as he knows that NF doesn't curse in any of his songs. This track was 🔥.

What I love about NF's features is that they are true collaborations. He doesn't just allow them a few lines, but he allows them to finish out. When NF says he doesn't feed his ego, his collaborations show that. He cares more about the song and what he gives to his people. He doesn't feel the need to compete. He feels the need to stay true to himself and know that's enough.

@Chris Topher Roasted? More like respected. Was Tech N9ne rapping so fast that you didn't actually listen to the content of his lyrics? Were you so distracted by the skill of his cadences that you confused it with disrespect? Participation trophy? This man literally has never had the respect of the industry and unlike others who would give up, he has kept on pushing and built a fanbase that knows his skills, knows who he is and stands by him. The fact that Tech N9ne chose to be on this track with him, that's a co-sign. I can never understand how folks who are living in the back seat, living in the nose bleeds, feel so comfortable in judging folks that actually choose to stick their necks out there and do something - who aren't afraid to fail - who aren't afraid to grow. Who would rather be the ones actually in the game, participating, if you will, then just sit on the bleachers. Of course, you have the right to your own perspective, but it still baffles me.

  • @phoebenaguit

@Chris Topher You're correct. It did it trigger me. It would be lying to say it didn't. I take ownership of how things impact me. Your perspective is fine. You definitely have the right to it. I can understand where you're coming from. I understand that there are many gatekeepers that will always choose to shut the gates on NF. At the end of the day, NF will have a legacy and it's okay, if he doesn't end up mattering to you. He's not gonna matter to everyone. But at the end of the day, he's pulling that check and he's making the impact on the people that ultimately matter. NF is not for everyone. That's fine.

The part about his ego I think was describing how he doesn’t feed it and starves it so the devil has no power over him. Think about it. Your ego is what makes you susceptible to the devils temptations. If you dilute your ego you are actually more powerful than those who hold onto it

I hear one line and before I can process what he’s saying the next line catches my attention and I totally get lost. It takes me forever of listening to a Tech track over and over before I can even begin to keep up with him. And that’s just mentally, I still can’t physically keep up and speak that fast without get tongue tied. My brain and my mouth just doesn’t work that way. I can do bits and pieces but not the whole thing straight like he does. Both of these guys have their own lane that they’ve found and even though they have a lot of similarities they’re still very different. I feel like this is about as close as they could get to mirroring parts of the other’s style. At least for now. Who knows what they could do in a few years as they each keep getting better and better with time.

The two styles are so different that I can't even compare them as though they're doing quite the same thing. Sure, they are both rapping, but Nate is speaking to me in complete English sentences with about the same structure as one might write a book or have a conversation. On the other hand, Tech write in abstract, fragmented riddles which are very open to multiple interpretations. In order for them to compete, I would have to see each of them adopt the other style. Otherwise, it's like sandwich vs. soup, grappling vs. striking, or sculpture vs. mosaic; Sure, you could say they're each cooking, fighting, or making art, but they're each doing the same thing in different enough ways that they can't really easily be compared.

Nate thrives off of syllable manipulation and cadence. His flow has definitely improved over the years. As said - it’s like having a conversation sped up and riding the hell out of the beat while at it. His annunciation is really good. Tech on the other hand is pure flow and word play. He’s a poet on Red Bull. Like a machine gun that spits words. He’s sooooo fast and has excellent clarity doing it. The way he rode the beat and harmonized with jt off the back end of his part was incredible. So fun to listen too.

Pretty new to rap and NF, but these collabs feel like NF is deliberately picking features that will stretch him and force him to step up his game. They say that one of the best ways you get better is to train against those better than you, and Hop and T9 are masters in their own styles. NF has a plan, that's why his songs are always linked together. I can almost hear him think "who can teach me more about cadence switches and spitting fast? T9"

Of course it was not a competition. Yet, I would argue that it doesn't hurt, to have always some slices of your competitive spirit within yourself in similar occasions where you are able to test your limits. They are not gaining any prices, but it does give them an additional reason to further push themself. I think to me it seems like that the idea of competition has a bit of a bitter taste to a lot of people when they hear about the competition, but I personally see it as something positive that gives you and your opposite an opportunity to exceed your capabilities.

First off Congrats on the big news of becoming a father, keep grinding because you are the one I was looking the most forward to when it came to the reaction of this album, while tech nine flows were amazing, I believe this was a team effort not a battle of the better rapper, and together they murdered this beat and left it in life support! Always appreciate your insight, I have seen several reaction videos to this already and the thing they miss is just how many different types of cadences are hit by both these rappers and just the technical ability it takes to not only pull them off but do it without a bunch of filler words and even more impressive not a single lazy curse word! You keep posting these reactions and I will def. be tuning in to watch them!!!! Again congrats on huge news of becoming a father!!!
