Yeah, there were times live where he couldn't get through the song. Also, he had requested everyone to leave the studio so he could just speak to his mom. He decided to keep parts that he felt was universal that people could relate to. The ones that ended on the cutting floor were specific stories that only he and his mom would really know.

Opinion... This song touched Shay WAY more then she expected.. almost everytime a deep/heavy line was mentioned in the song... She seemed to either look up/down/to the side.. or just closed her eyes for a moment.. Shay definitely relates to this song whether it be directly or indirectly... but doesn't want to necessarily want to get into the depths of the conversation so she seems to brush it off as tho anyone who has a song about their mom can do the same... Even as Annamay and Kay talk after the song... Shay's expressions and mannerisms are distant...!!! Again just an opinion..!!
