Neymar is technically an ATG. Unfortunately, being treated like a superstar from 10 years old has created a sociopathic mentality - as happy getting PAID as creating a legacy. He clearly sees life outside football as a bigger picture - yet still has a had a top career. Just a shame it all means he never had an ATG one.

Neymar has so much potential 💎

I am 31 years old and WC 2002 was the first event that I watched. I have been watching league football from 2004 and till date I have not seen a single player (including Messi and Ronaldo) who was more hyped than Neymar and the guy delivered. I still remember his puskas goal and that Santos vs Barcelona game. Amazing amazing guy. He had so much to give to Europe but sadly he retired. Never recd his ceiling.

When I first heard about Neymar I thought that he was going to be an average player who was hyped by the media like Robinho, then I saw his performance in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup finals against Spain and realized that he is going to be great and that he is indeed deserving of all the hype he had.

My take on Neymar's career. We all know he was ballin at Santos and Barcelona. Formed the greatest front 3 ever with Suarez and Messi. Won multiple titles at Barcelona including the treble and made the top 3 in the Ballon D'or. The moment that sent everything in motion and changed the football landscape was the famous comeback win against PSG and Neymar was the reason it happened. However, instead of getting the deserved credit from the media, Messi was on the front pages and was credited for that. That right there, Neymar decided to leave Barcelona. Neymar didn't make the mistake leaving Barcelona, he made the mistake of joining PSG and Ligue 1 and becoming the most expensive transfer ever. At PSG despite his impressive stats, he was injury prone and couldn't get PSG the Champions League title they craved since the takeover. He was supposed to be the main man and the poster boy of PSG however as time went by, he got replaced by the new talk of the town and the next big thing Kylian Mbappe. 6 years in Paris and no Champions League, World Cup and Ballon D'or to show and to add insult to injury, Messi and Mbappe has a World Cup to show and those two were in the final while he had to watch his home country fail to reach the glory days of Cafu, Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho. Neymar will likely never reached the heights of his Barcelona days ever again and that fate was sealed when he went to Saudi Arabia. Sad case of the supposed Prince who couldn't overthrow the gods of football(Messi and Ronaldo) and ascend to godhood. Neymar Jr: The boy who flew way too close to the sun and burned beyond repair.

Messi would give Neymar more trust than any other player and manager. Neymar would get more freekicks and penalties to boost his stats. And after some years an old messi would be slowing down and a 31 years old Neymar can easily carry a barca team.

I give my perspective about Neymar: Neymar for me is the second best entertainer I’ve ever seen after Ronaldinho. His skills,goals,celebrations,games are just fun & impressive to watch. I remember the national game against Argentina in 2016 when he bodied just everybody from the Argentina squad. Even Messi couldn’t handle him. Like it wasn’t funny to me. My perspective of why he leaved Barça is bcs he wanted to show the ppl that he can be the boss without Messi & Suarez. Bcs he doesn’t wanted to be the shadow of Messi. I feel like ppl are so much impulsive discrediting when ppl forget of what he archived. He was a Top 10 player of the Ballon’dor as a Santos player. He carried the whole Brazil to the 2013 Confed Cup & their first Olympia ever in 2016. He putted PSG for the first in time in a CL Final in 2020. He played in Copa America Final in 2021 & the Argentinas were so fucking dirty to him. And I’m sure ppl wouldn’t say that his career failed if he won the CL with & the Copa while he won already for Brazil. Injuries were his reasons tho. For all ppl saying „He should stay at Barça. He would def win a Ballon’dor“ i say maybe. But only bcs of Suarez & especially Messi. He would be shadowed just like Xavi & Iniesta. Bcs after 2015 Barça couldn’t get it done to win more CL trophies. In terms of „plays“ they’re the best trios but by „success“ no. So in my perspective Neymar‘s career isn’t failed. He’s just discredited bcs he leaved Barça

The standards set by Messi and Ronaldo are hard to reach, consistently winning and being a good sport while at it for so many years, I'm not saying Neymar was set to fail but in my eyes he did what he could pretty well if you ask me it's like how Lebron will always chase MJs shadow but it was nothing short of great

Either way I don't like Neymar, never did, never will. So I'm not sad that he didn't fulfill his potential, that he didn't become the best in the world, that he didn't win the World Cup, Ballon d'Ors and whatever. One player I'm sad about that he didn't fulfill his potential is the Brazilian Ronaldo, that guy was truly a phenomenon, it was his nickname after all. It's scary to imagine what he would have been if he never got injured.
