Is there a lesson on what you're playing at the very beginning of this video? I thought this video was a tutorial on that.

Mr. Jaxon, thank you for the tips. I lean on fingerstyle mainly (Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Knopfler) and have always sucked with a flat pick playing Rock, Country and such. So, I decided to go all the way with a couple of your videos. It has made me use my ring finger and pinky much more and that has opened up worlds of efficiency. My rock fluidity has improved greatly. Again, much appreciated. Not so much for Bluegrass though. LOL Question though, having duplicated several of your riffs, I find that I can't wing anything. I notice the intensity in which you close your eyes and very accurately play the slowed down lessons you give. Are most of your licks kind of--I hate to say-- 'worked up'? Are there patterns that start falling into place for improvisation?

Good stuff! Reminds me of some of the exercises I was given when I was primarily playing trumpet. One thing I’m curious about, and I hear a lot of guys mention it, is minimizing tension in your picking hand. Or maybe just being more fluid with your picking hand? Is there anything you think of that helps with that? Like a mental image or something?

Hey thanks! I really think that practice and repetition wins in the end. Bringing awareness to the level of tension in your picking hand can really go a long way while you’re practicing as well. Hope that helps

Good video bro how do you get that tension out of your hands I guess it’s just practice.. been aware it’s there is a goid start .. but it’s not easy .. I use a blue chip tad60 which I find a bit of getting used to .. I find a .88 or 1mm pick easier on the tension but I love the sound of the blue chip .. thanks Aaron great lesson.. wat pick are u using .. I must have a look at your course .. Brian Ireland 🇮🇪🎸🎸

Hey Brian! So I’m just using a Tortex flex 1.14 mm. I probably need to try the Blue Chips. The best advice I can offer is practice a lot and bring awareness to the level of tension in your picking hand while doing so. And no, it’s not easy but it does get easier and more fun the longer you stick w it. Repetition+Consistency+Time always wins

Hi Arron. Love your videos. I have 2 questions, can I use my tortex flex .73mm to play my bluegrass? Also, have you ever used a blue chip pick?

@@robmiller3464 yes you could use that. I would probably recommend a heavier pick but you could certainly use that one. Yes, I like blue chips and I use them. I just like the Tortex flex bc I get a solid tone w em and I can go buy 20 of them at my local guitar center anytime I like and for a fraction of what a blue chip costs.
