Next Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared Polar (NGP)

Ғылым және технология

The two NGP satellites, operating in highly elliptical orbits, will include infrared sensors to detect and track ballistic and hypersonic missiles; an enhanced communication system that will transmit mission data to the ground, allowing decision makers to identify infrared heat signatures of incoming threats; and resiliency features that reduce vulnerabilities to counter-space and cyberattacks.

1:12 - OK great, so Iran, China, and Russia can figure out exactly where to sail their ocean launch platforms now

The three satellites in geostationary orbit would be observing the rest of the world. And no, it's not gonna be easy to smuggle an entire convoy of ICBM launch trucks and container offices to Antarctica unless you wanna get caught.

I hope Finland as a NATO member and with a long border with russia has access to this satellite data. As NATO now has access to finnish Iceye and Kuva Space satellites, I'm sure.

Ugh, i thought we already had this capability. This should have been emplimented during the cold war. Wtf are we waiting for !?! we should have eyes on every ibm base on the planet. Every potential threat of The U.S. and the world.

This capability has existed for decades, hence why its called next gen OPIR. it is just an upgrade to what already exists.
