Next Gen Raptor Ranger Build - Ute Master Load Lid - Install & 1st thoughts
Damo is flat out in to the Ranger Raptor build at the moment, mainly to get it to his version of prefect for our Fraser trip!
We had a major piece of the puzzle arrive over the weekend, A Ute Master Load lid and what a hard cover! It is ruggedly good looking and matches the aggressive lines of the Next Gen Range Raptor perfectly.
The Ute master load lid is a little different from the others on the market. It is capable of holding 200kgs on top. Yep you read that right! You can put 200 kilos if extra weight on top of this lid if you want!
Unfortunately with everything good it’s expensive, are you sitting down? This is a $5500 hard lid in this configuration.
Everything is an optional extra on this thing and they don’t miss you with the price. Damo optioned this with
• central locking,
• 200mm lid spacer kit to lock it open if needed
• Destroyer side rails
• Load stop to suit the destroyer side rails
The installation is actually quite easy only taking around 1-2hours depending on how many beers you stop for. It does add 70 kg of weight to the back. But you can forgive this for the amount of practicality it has.
Overall I like the lid and think it is awesome, Damo is in love with it. I am just not quite convinced it’s worth so much.

Does look quite rugged. Definitely suits the rig. I like the space it provides too. 👏

I had one of these installed by Ford NZ when I picked my Raptor up in Nov. Amazing bit of kit, and I strap my swags to the top as well. I went with the normal side rails, lashing points, 30kg gas strut upgrade and central locking. They didn't have the load stop when I ordered mine, but that does look like a great idea.

Just had one of these installed onto my new MR Triton, they're comically expensive, but as soon as you see it, touch it, feel it and stand on it, it just exudes quality and strength and confidence.

@@HappyGoTravel The way I looked at it and compared it, the Mitsubishi 'Roll Top Tonneau Pack' was over 7 grand, and for that you get a fragile roller cover that is prone to jamming and leakage, cannot hold any load on top, takes up room inside the tub with its big cassette, doesn't even include central locking, includes a floppy and slippery tub liner that kills your knees, and comes with a useless sports bar that adds weight and makes it harder to reach in at the front of the tub. In that context, the silly cost of the Load-Lid was actually better value and better functionality for me.

@@TehBr0 The most expensive one after market is mountain top and they are $3,500? dont know how you're gonne reach the front of the tub with a lift up lid, or how you are going to carry anything taller than 500mm either

Looks like you had a nice amount of clearance for the fridge and slide. Exactly how much clearance is there from the tub to the underside of the load lid?

I got the same one but not overly impressed, leaks like a sieve. When you have water sitting on top it runs straight into the tub as well. I've had to rethink where I put my dual battery system as a result. Anyway live and learn they say!!

I like that it can hold so much weight but I still think it’s way over priced. Just out of curiosity is the rubber flap in between the tub and the cab how it should be? We stuffed around for a bit getting it right. The same as tensioning the latch. It was a pain to get it right. It’s definitely not 100% water proof but it doesn’t let too much in
