Nexgrill Stainless Steel Table Top 2 Burner Propane Grill

This is a close look at the Nexgrill 2 Burner Table Top Propane Grill. I give a detailed look at the construction, talk about the features and materials it is made from, mention the lack of a feature, and talk about who this device might be good for and a few circumstances where this device is just plain perfect. Over all, this is a very positive review, and I am completely willing to give this 184 sq in cooking surface portable, tabletop propane grill from Nexgrill one of my highest recommendations. This is an excellent device. In fact, I like it a lot better than similar offerings from Magic Chef, Coleman, and Weber.
As pointed out in the comments below, I neglected to include the footprint of the legs when deployed. When extended, the legs sit 22" wide and are 14 1/4" long.

    just WOOW!!. I have had my grill for about 1 1/2 years now and I hated it. it was ALWAYS burning my food.. I didn't know until I watched your video and realized that the heat plate go on top of the burners not under!! I thought they were drip plates... lol.. I never understood why they would make it that way my burners would get clogged up with grease and it was always a burned greasy mess.. lol.. (I got it used, so no instruction booklet for me).. I'm soo very grateful for your help with learning what I was doing wrong.. lmbo ... I am soo lol at myself right now...

    I've used mine for four years now and I have not been very nice to it, but it is still going strong. I've left it out without a cover throughout winter but every summer it is still working. For a little over a hundred bucks, it is a steal compared to any other grill for the occasional backyard cooking.

    It is hard to believe that with a Home Depot military discount, I bought this grill for $98. It would be helpful to know how hot this grill can preheat to at the grill surface for searing. I'm curious if the mirror finish inside is to increase the heat and/or deflect heat downward... I've not seen this design before. I'm going to wrap the flame tamer tops and drip pan in foil to minimize clean-up and prolong the finish on this. I'm planning on travelling with this in my RV and just want to limit the mess as much as possible. I like to slow cook certain meats with indirect heat... I'm cooking for only 2 of us so I think this will work considering I will only slow cook 12 ounces at a time. I would not have bought this grill to cook for 3 or more people. It doesn't look like there is much height under the lid which limits a small number of meats that won't fit. Best part is the connection is made for a 20lb propane tank... most portable grills require an adapter which is an additional purchase and cost.

    Thanks for the review. Q: Is it normal for big flames to shoot up from dripping fat catching on fire? I just used mine for the first time and I don't have any gas grilling experience. It just seemed like the flames were pretty high from the juices dripping from the hamburgers.

  • @betweenfiveandseven

    @betweenfiveandseven

    4 жыл бұрын

    That tendency reduces as the flame tamers get seasoned. The heat spreaders will eventually lose their shine and get some carbon baked in to their surface that won't come off with grill cleaner. At that point, the tendency to catch drippings on fire decreases a lot. But, this is the nature of gas grilles. Gas burns hot and animal fat has a pretty low flash point. The best way to mitigate the possibility of a grease fire inside is to keep the grille clean and be attentive when cooking prime cuts. For instance, if I were going to throw on some ribeyes, I'd have a spray bottle of water handy and mist down the flames of any fat fires that might burn the meat. Use the mist setting and not the spray because significant amounts of water can float flaming grease and make a bad situation in a hurry.

    It's a match stick holder in case you ever need to light the grill with a match. Lighting propane and gas devices with matches often results in singed hair and nasty flash burns, so getting a little distance is a good safety practice.

Rub everything with a green scrub pad for a while and then rinse it all off with the hose. .. I use this grill several times a week and while I can't get the flame tamers or the rear vent area shiny reflective any more, very much of the rest of it still cleans to a nice shine.

    You need to add the footprint measurements of the legs when open for people fitting this to or making a a certain size stand/table. It's beautiful small propane bbq but due to low lid even with water bath one could not do any closed lid for baking, and has no upper warmer . I am still considering this model however; good price!. I have found a way to do some indirect cooking with this unit, I have 2 grill pro smoker boxes now. Both fit between the 'flame tamers' in the middle of the unit under the stainless steel rack. They are made of cast iron so they act a lot like a stone oven bottom might as a thermal mass... Anyway, instead of filling them with wood chips, I filled them with water. I only turned on one burner and the smoker boxes effectively block off the direct heat in the middle leaving 2/3 of the cook surface without direct heat. In fact, I baked 4 potatoes and about 1/2 lb of bell peppers + mushrooms + onion in foil this way just a few hours ago. I put the spuds on, then about a half hour later, I put the peppers on, and then 15 minutes after that, I added two small steaks to the direct heat side. About 9 minutes later, a nice meal was going on the plates. The potatoes and peppers were perfect and the round steaks were a nice medium/medium rare.

    Picked this up today, my complex does not allow grills to be stored on the balcony and wanted something i could stash in the storage closet. Originally planned on something cheaper, but after seeing this, and the reviews, def alot of bang for your buck. A google search shows after market lid thermometers, requiring you to drill a hole. Any thoughts on that, over the ones you suggested?

  • @betweenfiveandseven

    @betweenfiveandseven

    8 жыл бұрын

    The stainless is hard to drill because of the polished finish.. If you use a nail and a quick strike with a very small hammer to get a good spot to start your drill bit, it will be a lot easier. ... As for stashing this in the storage closet, I can offer just a little bit of advice about that too. After a few uses, this will start to smell like a grill and the odor will seep out of the closet.... Easy-Off makes a grill cleaner (I also found that at home depot, but I'll guess it's at a lot of places). It was the fastest, easiest, and most thorough clean up I've been able to do and leaves all of the stainless absolutely spotless and odor free. I hope that helps! I've grilled a lot of steaks on it. I'm going to guess you had some wind (or even a pretty strong breeze). If there's any wind, the vents in the back have to be facing away from the direction the wind is coming from, or it needs to be put next to some sort of barrier. That's a bit of a problem with all small cook box grills. If the wind can blow in through the vents, it sucks the heat right out and the space just isn't big enough to afford to lose so many BTUs to being carried away by wind as a big grill can. ... I like some smoke on my steaks, so I use a cast iron smoker box like this one www.homedepot.com/p/Nexgrill-Cast-Iron-Smoker-Box-680-0002/206416025 right between the flame tamers.. The grill has to get pretty hot to get the smoke going, so I'm sure it's plenty hot enough even for really thick steaks. I hope that helps!

    I own this grill too and I love it! I took it to the lower Illinois river in Oklahoma / Mountain fork by beavers bend and it worked awesome! I paid $120.00 at Home Depot that's because I got the extra warranty. Anyways we cooked burgers, Fajitas, sliced ribs, Hot dogs, corn and grill cheese sandwich. I tried putting foil paper to help with the clean up but it was not a good idea because it was still a little hard to clean either way thats if you like to keep it clean for the next time you use it. I still don't know what's with the chain with a wire on the right side close to the propane line that comes out on the right side but I hope to figure it out soon. Oh and before I forget don't take the grill back because of the handle lol. I don't know why but the handle is off set like one arm is a little longer than the other side. After all its an awesome little portable grill.

    The coiled wire is a match holder in case the igniters don't work. You stick the match in the coil and use it to extend your reach so you don't burn yourself. I've had other grills with this feature and have never used it. As to clean up: Home Depot sells an "Easy-Off" product for grills. My grill has been in constant use for a year now. Recently, I needed to use it in a situation where it was best that it was shiny clean and presentable. I sprayed it down really well inside and out with the easy-off and let it sit for about an hour. About 15 minutes of scrubbing with a green scrub pad and a couple of minutes with the garden hose had every inch of it except the "flame tamers" looking brand new like it just came from the store. ... I love this little grill! It doesn't handle windy days as well as bigger grills, but it has cooked probably 25% or more of our food this last year and has never given me any trouble at all.

    It's a match stick holder. As to why I didn't tell you: Well, until I got a number of questions about it on this video, I thought everyone knew what those are. Most gas grills have one in case something goes wrong with the electronic igniter.

    It's a match holder. Most gas grills have one. If for whatever reason the ignitor doesn't work, you place a match in the split ring looking portion of it and it gives you enough reach not to burn yourself when the gas ignites.

    I love mine too, with one exception. Has anyone else found the grill to be "not hot enough"? It seems like it needs more btu's. I wish the flame was bigger, to cook hotter and faster. I have sometimes found it difficult to even get burgers hot enough to get the char grill marks on them. Great grill otherwise. I truly love the 100% stainless construction.

    If there's any wind at all, I fully agree. Wind sucks the heat right out of this. When it's calm out or when I can find a nice sheltered place to operate it, it's fine.

    Great video! I have purchased this very model after using my neighbors! I have many years experience with cooking & BBQ. Back in 2010 I decided to buy the biggest Charbroil Commercial series grill that they had to offer. Now don't get me wrong.....I loved that grill but after having one of these NexGrills, I will never buy another large 3 or 4 burner grill again. The engineering, quality & value this grill offers for $100 cannot be beat! Go ahead and spend more for your 'brand name" portable grill.....I will tell you that you foolishly wasted your money!

    Thanks for this review. Just wondering if you think it could be used as the occasional 'side burner' / stove? I've seen the larger BBQs with the side burner but not sure how often I would use it to justify the high upsale price. If I could use this to occasionally place a pot on it I could kill two birds with one stone and use this along with my charcoal BBQ. Yes of course, I would be using it as a grill too! lol What do you think?

    Side burners are usually intended for boiling liquids or heating a saute pan. This little grill isn't particularly well suited for either of those needs. ... However, I used two larger grills just a couple of weeks ago to do do 22 NY Strip steaks and I used this little grill for potatoes o'brien in tinfoil. Last fall, I did 10 ribeyes on a large grill and used this little one for mushrooms and onions in aluminum tins. It has been a life saver when I cook for family events with more than just a few people.
