if we remove the gravity then the force mg which is attracting towards downwards the block will be zero so according to my answer the answer should change

Yes the tension is same without gravity
The speed of a motor launch with respect to still water = 7 m/s and the speed of stream is u= 3 m/s. when the launch begin travelling upstream, a float was dropped from it. the launched travelled 4.2 km upstream, turned about and caught up with the float. how long is it before the launch reaches the float?
