For the last decade or so I wondered why we couldn’t have a president like Washington, Adams, Roosevelt etc- last night as I saw Trump rise to his feet and raise his fist- as I saw all those traumatized people then jump to their feet and cheer- I then realized we do have one running for office in our day.

I was a first grader when President Kennedy was assassinated, and that was the first time I ever saw my Dad cry, wondering aloud what was happening to our country. A few years later, Robert Kennedy and MLK were assassinated, and I was old enough to be horrified and fearful in my own heart and head about those murders. Plus, with Vietnam going on until my first year of high school, witnessing friends lose a brother and an uncle in combat, those were troubling times. Now I'm 67, and bemoaning the sorry shape of our country. We need unity, honesty and integrity restored amongst average citizens and those elected to lead our great nation. We have choices to make about who will lead us, and how we will restore our dignity and respect at home and around the world. America is still the greatest nation in the world, and while "make America great again" may seem trite and hackneyed to some, our great nation is worth praying for, fighting for, and preserving our integrity. God help us.

Who could fault a man who would want out of that life. This is a strong man. Perhaps the strongest I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.
