Newsmakers: Focus On Margaret Wanjiru

On newsmakers, from being a house help to a hawker, then a toilet cleaner and even at some point, a street preacher. The current Starehe Member of Parliament Bishop Margaret Wanjiru's life has gone full circle. Today, she is not only a reknowned evangelist, she is also an influential politician who despite life's challenges has forged on to live her dreams. Evelyn Wambui spent the day with Bishop Margaret Wanjiru and brings us her story on newsmakers.

I used to listen to her in the streets and she was a great pastor. Now after reading her stories they are so complicated I do not understand them, But God Knows her more than I do.

Bishop politics and spiritual matters is like mixing water and oil. Water will always remain in the bottom while the oil will float. In God's hands you will always float from your enemies. The water will drown you and bury you, therefore choose what you want. Remember the former days when the Lord blessed and used you mightily. Go back to your first LOVE.

This is no except story for many people go through poverty. Our LORD Jesus Christ was born to very poor parents who could not even afford a place to deliver their child. The biggest problem with poor people is that they cry to God, and God hears them, and helps them out of poverty. After they get rich, they forget God and His Word. Howbeit, the Bible forbids a woman to preach because she was deceived by Satan to sleep with a snake and bore children to him.

Someone I know witnessed kamangu paying a dowry of sh.3000 to your mum wanjira. Your mum was also not a single mother coz she left your dad kariuki in gatundu. I knew you from westland when your mum and my grandmother worked together as muzungus house helps. They were good friends.

She strikes me more as a hustler, than a religious person wearing the title of Bishop.Based on her account, she has this insatiable appettite to do things. From househelp to corporate marketing(we all know how hard it is,to get there in Kenya)She came across real money, however,as head of JIAM and as tradition would have it,wanted more,so she ran for Parliament, then tried to get a foreign preacher as husband...it takes a hustler to do these things, don't you think?
